NJ Truck Driver Spends $153 On Campaign, Close to Unseating Kingpin

One of the best stories of the Tuesday night election --

He's actually a few thousand votes ahead of the New Jersey State Senate President as late votes are counted. The guy he's close to defeating is a longtime fixture in the state capitol, a major political machine figure who has planning a run for Governor when this next State Senate term was over.

So how did our guy do it going up against a guy like that with no campaign staff or advertising budget? (About half of the $153 campaign budget was spent at Dunkin Donuts.) The old fashioned way. He campaigned door to door, in his jeans and tennis shoes. He seems to have made a few do-it-yourself videos and has a website. Family, friends and volunteers helped him knock on doors. And he was lucky to be running when voter dissatisfaction was through the roof.

He says that he never expected to win and that the whole thing was just a "moonshot". Then he and his kids and grandkids watched the election results, and...

There's just so many "anyone but a Democrat" votes out there to be had.

I guess the Dems must have figured they didn’t need to fix this result. Late votes is a term I’d eye suspiciously though. Why is it on election night that Americans can’t get all votes counted? Truck driver doesn’t have the money or aides to scrutinize the late votes and seeing how it’s New Jersey, I hope this guy doesn’t become part of the infrastructure he drove over when hauling. Dunkin Donuts will be the big winner and if this guy loses in the late count then he will do alright as their spokesperson.

Republican Truck Driver Beats New Jersey’s ‘Most Powerful’ Democrat Lawmaker After Only Spending A Few Thousand Dollars
New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney officially lost re-election on Thursday to newcomer Edward Durr, a Republican truck driver, who spent only a couple thousand dollars on his campaign.
...
Durr defeated Sweeney after “spending $2,300, according to an Election Law Enforcement Commission document filed online on Thursday,” the Associated Press reported. Politico noted that just four years ago, “the New Jersey Education Association, the state’s largest teachers union, spent about $5.4 million on a 2017 effort to unseat Sweeney, yet he still won by 18 points.”

Montclair State University political science professor Brigid Harrison said that Durr’s upset victory was, in part, an indicator that even blue states are rejecting Democrat President Joe Biden and his far-left agenda.

So all told, he spent $2,300, but beat one of the most powerful Democrats in the state.

As an aside, I usually try to refrain from citing right-leaning sources, but since breaking the story of Loudoun county school officials covering up a sexual assault by a boy wearing a skirt in a girl's bathroom, they're obviously doing more actual journalism than the likes of CNN, NYT, etc..

I guess that they didn't expect to lose. But after they did lose on election night, the corruption engine seems to have been fired up. Sweeney (the kingpin) is refusing to concede and claims that an additional 12,000 ballots have recently been found. Recently been found?? Where?? It smells like a turd, but it's New Jersey I guess.

I have a feeling that they are trying to steal this guy's victory as we speak.

It reminds me of the 2020 election where Trump was ahead in several battleground states on election night, and then they "found" thousands of additional votes that just happened to be overwhelmingly for Biden. Supposedly mail-in votes or something. We used to have a reasonably transparent and reliable voting system in this country. It worked for generations. Then along came covid, which enabled the democrats to dramatically change the voting rules in many of the bluer states. Changes that seem custom designed for election fraud. As Agent Smith might have said in the Matrix, 'We made the changes for your protection!'.

Maybe eyes should be cast suspiciously at Murphy’s win also…..and how are the Russians involved? Big Grin

Sad part is people will probably die once the riots break out should Sweeney miraculously win.

If you’re a NJ cop, auxiliary cop, National Guardsman, security guard or someone of that ilk then it might be a good time to book a vacation and get away for awhile.

What’s the over/under for cars flipped onto their roof? Looted stores? Dollar figure? Death toll? Should Sweeney win of course .

Sweeney (the kingpin) has conceded the election to Durr, the truckdriver challenger.

Durr says that Sweeney called him to concede. Durr told Tucker Carlson that Sweeney was quite gentlemanly about it. "He congratulated me and just wished me luck, that I'd do well for South Jersey."

Tucker asked, "So he was a gentleman about it"?

Durr: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was a gentleman. And when we, you know, and like I told him, I said, you know, if he ever needed anything, just give me a call, you know, because I'm, I'm his representative now."

Going to be tough. A lot of dirt will be tossed at him, anything to make it uncomfortable. There’s also a chance Durr becomes corrupt, see what kind of car he starts driving or how big a boat he owns as time passes.
