Tone policing genetic fallacy

In Keith Bybee's How Civility Works, he notes that feminists, Black Lives Matter protesters, and anti-war protesters have been told to "calm down and try to be more polite". He argues that tone policing is a means to deflect attention from injustice and relocate the problem in the style of the complaint, rather than address the complaint.[2]

Critics have argued that tone policing is a flawed concept. As discussed by The Frisky's Rebecca Vipond Brink, the act of labeling tone policing may itself be considered tone policing[3]

This is a fallacy, trolling, and ad hominem. Keep that in mind.

I find that tone policing in general, is usually a tactic to shut down arguments, if the arguments are expressly going against the person who is tone policing. Not saying this is Carol's intent or anyone else's but it's just something I've noticed from time to time, even offline.

Yeah, either that or just a way to avoid inconvenient arguments.
