"Today is National Pie Day and if you didn't know... it's your excuse to slow down and grab a slice. Sweet or savory, pie is simple food that sticks around for a reason. Apple, pecan, cherry, chicken pot pie. It all counts today.
Pie works because it is familiar. Most people can name a pie tied to a memory. A holiday table. A diner stop on a long drive. A kitchen where someone knew exactly how brown the crust should be.
If you want numbers, Americans eat about 186 million pies each year. Apple leads the list. Pumpkin spikes hard in November. Pie shows up when people gather, not when they rush.
So today, eat a slice on purpose. Support a local bakery or make one at home. No trends required. Just a fork, a plate, and a few quiet minutes"
My favorite rotates from pecan to custard to coconut to cheese to chocolate, to apple crumb, etc. Depending on which one is available or what the last one was that we got tired of. It would be easier to make a short list of pies I don't care much for than the whole list of revolving favorites.
