Romanticism vs The Enlightenment

I'm a bit of a mix between these two historic trends. I believe in the intellect and in reasoning to guide me thru life like a rationalist, but I also stay grounded in the passions and longings of the heart like a romantic. A ship needs both its sails and its rudder after all. I am as comfortable quoting Einstein as I am quoting Rumi.

Why are you so obsessed with putting me down and making it personal? What motivates you on such a one-track pursuit? What stake do you have in it?

Are objective observations "putting you down"?
