Quote:Why psychology is failing men
78% of all US doctorates in clinical psychology in 2020 were awarded to women. Approaching 4 to 1 and growing every year. A doctorate is necessary to practice in all US states. And that disproportion is probably indicative of the biases of the university departments awarding the degrees and of the American Psychological Association itself.
Clinical psychology is increasingly a profession by and for (feminist) women. So its focus is increasingly on the problems and concerns facing women. Which means that the problems and concerns of men tend to only be acknowledged by the profession in how they are perceived to impact women. So men are kind of converted into caricatures: sexist oppressors of women, the tainted carriers of the "toxic masculinity" supposedly responsible for war, crime and no end of evils.
Is it really surprising that clinical psychology is failing men?
(Jordan Peterson's problems are that he's a clinical psychologist who spits into that gale. I understand the Province of Ontario is talking about revoking his license to practice.)

I'm clearly not up to speed on this.
My take on this is that heterosexual males are most likely to commit suicide because they either can't get a girlfriend (incel) or they had one and she has left them. My guess is that very few heterosexual males having regular sex with a female would even contemplate suicide - any figures on this?
IF I'm right (data either way welcome) then getting the lads covered in tattoos and out having drunken fights every Friday night might not be helpful. Women, for reasons known only to women, do seem to want to have children but a fair few don't want the tattooed drunken loser that goes along with having a male around.
I'd guess (with no evidence) that a high proportion of suicides are homosexual males simply because society (UK) regards them as fair game for any amount of abuse and occasional violence.

IOW, you're going to do some baseless opining, and if no one does your research for you, you'll just assume you're right.
The definition of intellectual laziness.

There's a clue in th OP..
Quote:Males make up 49% of the population but 80% of suicides, according to the CDC.
Quote:“More than 60 percent of young men are single,” he noted, “nearly twice the rate of unattached young women.” This gap, he warned, signals “a larger breakdown in the social, romantic and sexual life of the American male.” He’s right. It does.
I think we have to conclude the excess of attached women are attached to older men or other females.
Does the solution "make young men more masculine" follow from what appears to be the description of the problem?
Xi Jinping wants a huge army of fit young men ready to fight. Jinping's solution might coincidentally solve the US "can't get a girl" problem but so far I've not seen any evidence to suggest that it would.

Women are inherently hypergamous. And peak dating market value (how attractive they are to the opposite sex) for men and women are reached at different ages. Women have to retain their value, which decreases with age, number of sexual partners, etc.. Men have to build their value, through things like income and status, which usually increase with age. So comparing young women and young men is a mismatch. Young women and older men have the highest dating market value. So it's no surprise that more young men are single than young women. More masculinity alone will not change the fact that hypergamous women seek men of higher status them themselves.

How is that possible? Isn't the "attachment" being referred to a matter of males and females pairing up?
So how is it possible for fewer females to be single than males? Are multiple females "attached" to the same guy, Utah style?
Are all those "attached" young females attached to each other and hence lesbians?
Or perhaps most likely, are the excess of attached females in that age bracket in relationships with slightly older males who didn't fall into the category of males that were being surveyed?

Here's a quote from that article of The Hill it references, as a source for the numbers.
Most young men are single. Most young women are not.
https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-...n-are-not/
EXCERPT: If single young men outnumber single young women nearly two to one, then who are all the young women dating?
Some of them are dating each other. One-fifth of Generation Z identifies as queer, and research suggests bisexual women make up a large share of the young-adult queer community.
Young women are also dating and marrying slightly older men, carrying on a tradition that stretches back more than a century. The average age at first marriage is around 30 for men, 28 for women, according to census figures.
Heterosexual women are getting more choosy. Women “don’t want to marry down,” to form a long-term relationship to a man with less education and earnings than herself, said Ronald Levant, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Akron and author of several books on masculinity.
In previous generations, young women entered adulthood in a society that expected them to find a financially stable man who would support them through decades of marriage and motherhood. Over the 1950s and 1960s, that pattern gradually broke down, and today it is all but gone.
Women are tiring of their stereotypical role as full-time therapist for emotionally distant men. They want a partner who is emotionally open and empathetic, the opposite of the age-old masculine ideal.
“Today in America, women expect more from men,” Levant said, “and unfortunately, so many men don’t have more to give.”

It's more a matter of women not knowing what they really want, and ultimately leaving the guys who believe they want an emotionally open and empathetic man. Attraction just doesn't respond to agendas long term.

You only have a problem with reality.
