Japan's Chain of Weird Hotels (that's their name) Staffed by Robot Dinosaurs

It's called the Henn-na hotel chain (Japanese for 'weird'). They started in Nagasaki and now there are eight of them around Japan. All are staffed by robots, but not all the robots are dinosaurs, some are more humanoid. The humanoid ones are designed to look like humans but are actually creepier than the dinosaurs, firmly in the 'uncanny valley'. (Which may be why they went to the dinosaurs instead.)

The robots can detect motion and respond to people near them, causing them to bellow out "Welcome!" in dinosaur-like voices. They can speak Japanese, English, Chinese or Korean, but apparently aren't very chatty and only know pre-programmed phrases. Reportedly some guests are put off but others choose to stay at these hotels for the experience. Children absolutely love it. (And there's that Japanese fascination with robots.)

Each room has its own little robot, not a dinosaur but a ball thing that acts like a digital assistant.

I wouldn't mind sitting in a hotel lounge across from a bartending triceratops.

i prefer my bartenders chatty, not snacky
when i go to a bar i want to be part of the mix, not parts in a mixed salad

If I go to heaven and there's no barmaids I'm going to consult a lawyer.
