EXCERPT: Do-gooders in America, typically of the Millennial variety, think of themselves as smarter, more worldly, and far better informed than you. They are woke. You are not. This has consequences, mostly for you. For do-gooders, the ends justify the means. Do-gooders believe they are saving the world, therefore any tactic is completely defensible. Anyone who stands in the way of their planet-saving mission is, by definition, evil and must be punished. Usually touted as progressivism, this cult-like ideology is actually regressive. Yet, it has succeeded at racking up political victories across the country.
The Anti-Straw Craze ... Do you like plastic straws? You're a bad person [...]
Judging from their behavior, diversity is far less of a concern for Millennials than is ideological conformity. And at the center of that conformity is a religious cult known as do-gooderism, which manifests itself in unscientific fads and authoritarian law-making. Woe be unto you who challenge their self-admiration.

Any time the ends justify any means, you're dealing with fascists.

Had to look 'woke' up. By doing so, did I prove I'm not?
The place where I go for coffee also serves other beverages. At the table next to me a young kid with a glass of chocolate milk asked for a straw but was told no by the young waitress that for green reasons the store doesn't distribute them anymore (they're plastic). Paper straws fell victim to tree huggers? Meanwhile the kid's father asked why he was given a plastic stir stick for his coffee, essentially the same thing as the straw. Stunned silence followed by incoherent mumbling.......I guess she wasn't woke.
Actually at first I thought the article a joke and still have reservations about it. More proof I'm not woke?

Bans on plastic bags and the transition to "bring your own" reusable bags in retail stores is already causing consternation among old-fogies in Australia.
It's as much or more institutionalized green morality as militant activity on the streets or in everyday interactions. Generation-Z or i-Gen is just more okay with such changes because they lack roots / personal history with former tradition. Similar to youth in the '60s, but a reverse of the counterculture that wanted to relax moral constraints and formal etiquette rather than increase them: " Cool was individualistic, but woke is nationalistic and collectivist. Cool was emotionally reserved; woke is angry, passionate and indignant. Cool was morally ambiguous; woke seeks to establish a clear marker for what is unacceptable." ( --Woke#Generic)

They stopped selling straws and lids at zoos years ago because they’re harmful to the animals. When my son was little, he wanted an Icee. He threw a temper tantrum because he couldn’t have a straw. We had to leave because during his little fit, he spilled the entire drink down the front of him. I was so embarrassed. This might work at Starbucks, though.

It's not going to work at Starbucks, though.
Abort! Abort! I repeat! Abort mission!
They’re keeping the lids.
We’re getting sippy cups and/or paper straws wrapped in plastic.

He was upset that he couldn’t have a straw, but he didn’t start crying until he spilled his drink, and to his credit, I think that a frozen drink is difficult to manageable without a straw. Even adults get frustrated when they spill their drink down the front them.
How do you slurp a Slurpee without a straw?
Here we go again with your off topic trolling.

That doesn't follow from "during his little fit, he spilled the entire drink down the front of him". Nor does a fit mean crying. So you're either changing your tune or a poor communicator.
Most this is old news. Like the new Starbucks sippy lids containing more plastic than the original straw and lid combined.
