Moved from South Texas to Oregon already. May have to move to Alaska soon! I can't stand the heat, so I get out of the kitchen.

"2014 Earth's warmest year on record;

December 2014 record warm; Global oceans also record warm for 2014

The globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for 2014 was the highest among all years since record keeping began in 1880. The December combined global land and ocean average surface temperature was also the highest on record."===http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/summary-in...al/2014/12

This is extraordinary news! If this method really works, we have just made a major stride in curing cancer!

"The deadly polio virus may be the key to curing some cancers. By injecting a modified version of polio in two patients with glioblastoma brain tumors, a doctor has eliminated their tumors without infecting them with polio.

CBS’s “60 Minutes” followed the patients for 10 months during the trial and will release the full report Sunday. Matthias Gromeier, a molecular biologist at Duke University, has been researching the idea for 15 years, first beginning with studies, then animal trials and now human tests.

Patient Stephanie Lipscomb was 20 when she entered the experimental treatment. “They didn’t expect me to live more than two years, I don’t think,” Lipscomb told USA Today. In 2012, doctors injected the genetically modified version of the polio virus into her tumor. Now, three years later, there is no active cancer.

The modified polio virus is able to remove the shield human cancers put up against the immune system, which then allows the immune system to fight back, Gromier explained to CBS. It only took one dose for Lipscomb to become cancer free.

“This, to me, is the most promising therapy I have seen in my career, period,” Henry Friedman, a neuro-oncologist and deputy director of the Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, told CBS. Friedman has been researching a cure for glioblastoma for more than 30 years.

Polio is a life-threatening, infectious disease that leaves its victims paralyzed. But, the disease, for the most part, has been eradicated after the development and widespread use of the polio vaccine in the 1950s. Gromeier’s lab at Duke modified the virus by adding genetic information from the rhinovirus, a cause of the common cold.

According to CBS’s report, the polio virus appears to start the killing of the tumor and then allows the immune system to do the rest of the damage. During human trials, 11 of the 22 participants succumbed to their tumors. But in two patients, doctors have not detected any signs of the cancer three years after they started receiving the experimental treatment."===http://www.ibtimes.com/cancer-patients-c...ts-1862796

Well my state (IN) is gettin its "But" kicked over the misunderstandin of the new law Gov. Pence signed into action... an its gonna wind up costin us good citizens lots of money.!!!

I wish people coud understand that the new law ant gonna be used to enable discrimination aganst anybody... an even if is... it will likely only be a few people directly impacted so whats the big deal.!!!

As Pence didnt explain... all the law is for is to butter up the Christan bigots to insure he gets ther vote in what ever he runs for next... so get off our backs America... you'r to stoopid to realize that you'r makin a mountain out of a little slap to the face of people who are hell-bound anyway Angry

A small Kazakh town named Kalachi is experiencing an epidemic of a weird sleeping sickness.

About 1/4 of the town has been struck at one time or another, often suddenly in the middle of whatever they are doing like walking down the street, where they fall to the ground asleep and sometimes sleep for as much as a week.

In some cases, unconsciousness isn't total, resulting in mental lethargy, disorientation and unsteadiness outwardly similar to drunkenness. When people eventually wake up, they also experience the disorientation symptoms and some report hallucinations. All the physicians can do is nurse them while they are asleep.

Last September, eight school children in one class were struck within an hour.

Interestingly, it's reported that a cat showed symptoms, suddenly becoming hyperactive and attacking people, then falling asleep.

Local doctors and specialists from Russia have been all over this, but have been unable to discover the cause. Bacterial and viral tests came up negative. Apparently it comes in waves and seems to be most prevalent when the ground was previously frozen and there is a thaw.

Locals suspect that it's the result of an old Soviet era uranium mine nearby. Investigators have discovered a high level of radon in the soil, but don't think that's related to the symptoms.

It's pretty clearly a neurological problem of some sort that apparently effects mammal nervous systems in general, judging from the stricken cat. The thawing ground thing makes me think that there may be some kind of environmental toxin in the soil. It might not be the uranium mine, but I'd guess that it's the leftovers of some old Soviet-era chemical pollution.

I hope that there aren't any lasting symptoms of brain damage such as cognitive deficits.

http://religiondispatches.org/wrestling-...dont-care/

EXCERPT: [...] Professional wrestling, much like organized religion, operates within its own system of internal logic and rules. To the uninitiated outsider, the inability of a wrestler to prevent himself from bouncing off of the ropes (perhaps gravity operates differently within the squared circle) or a suplex inflicting damage only on an opponent despite both bodies slamming into the mat, might appear as strange as, say, walking in on the ceremony of holy communion (without the chair shots, of course) with no understanding of the purpose or meaning behind the ritual. Max Landis points out that the bizarre internal logic of the sport is incidental to fans because, ultimately, wrestling isn’t about wrestling—it’s about constructing mythology and meaning. We know it’s fake, and we really don’t care. The often strange and peculiar logic of religion serves the same function, I’d argue, and the catcalls of unbelievers—“You know it’s fake, right?”—miss the point entirely....
