Refreshing

Americans win World Junior Hockey Championship beating Canada in final game. As a Canuck I’m fine with that. Some aren’t because those Yanks apparently threw egg in our face during post game celebration by use of a trash can . Read it here :

I find it refreshing to finally see someone poke fun of others or rub it in. That’s the way it was when I grew up and almost everyone had a good laugh or patiently awaited their turn for revenge. Also refreshing to see kids brought up in the era of the dreaded participation medal actually make winning mean something, they know what the score is folks no matter how much it’s hidden from them as kids.

Sad that our Canadian kids treated the Silver Medal as if it was a participation medal. Meanwhile Finland celebrated coming in third. Different cultures, different reactions.

I don't follow hockey, but from the background noise over the years I've gathered (in the NHL, anyway) that Canadian players are better or more sought after. So if it's similar at that level, I can understand why anything other than getting the gold(?) medal would suck or be embarrassing. NOTE: Looking it up, I see Canada indeed leads the medal count over the decades, with 18 golds.
