Path of Corruption

Was watching English Football the other day and of course somebody faked being fouled. What’s that say about corruption you ask? Well, the remark I made at the time of this televised incident to a member of the Press sitting nearby was that such an act shouldn’t be surprising if one considers the Path of Corruption. As I went on to explain to him, corruption starts at the top and works its way down. Kind of like shit rolling downhill. He liked the analogy.

Soccer’s governing body has been known to have a scandal or two, particularly bribes made to top executives when bidding to host large events like World Cup or Olympics. Corruption at the top isn’t missed by other persons involved in the game and filters down through the ranks, right down to a ball boy refusing to give a ball to an opponent of the home team who employs him/her.

Yet we expect soccer to govern itself. When it can’t then corruption even makes its way to the supporters, right down to the point when they cheer a player who fakes an injury or anything in a game that helps the home team. There are pitch invasions, hurling of pyrotechnics and exploding bombs, and violence.

What’s my point? Society is no different. The path of corruption is still from the top down and that includes govt, media influence, stock market manipulation, false information, price gouging, all the way down to the kid who delivers flyers throwing his allotment into a ditch. The problem is that we have all become corrupt in different degrees and levels.

IOW, if that guy can get away with it then why not me? That’s where we are right now in NA. Even the victims of corruption are corrupt. No idea how this will ever be fixed or turned around.

In 1980, when insider trading became illegal in the uk (I was told) many asked "What other sort of trading is there?"

NA Canada - Narcotics Anonymous Canada? I'm guessing (hoping) there's a misunderstanding there.

Soccer may be the perfect sport for more leftist countries and cultures, as they believe the ends, like winning, justifies any means, including cheating, and they're predisposed to rioting.

With the omnipresent eyes and ears of God (i.e., the personal, stealthy mobile phone video/audio recordings along with pervasive AI security surveillance), I don't know how anyone is getting away with anything. (Like HAL, the software will eventually read lips if the MEMS planted in rooms aren't hearing well).

I guess it boils down to it being more profitable to blackmail with the evidence rather than report it (i.e., even the All-Seeing is corruptible).

Even HAL was corrupted. What would AI do for an updated new and improved computer chip? I’ll oil the SOB for a price  Big Grin.
