UPDATE: The Italian coastguard has helped a rescue boat after the vessel became stranded in the Mediterranean Sea.
Banksy-funded rescue boat needs 'immediate assistance' after taking 219 migrants onboard

EXCERPTS: A rescue boat funded by the British street artist Banksy has said it urgently needs assistance after taking 219 migrants onboard in the Mediterranean. The vessel said in a series of tweets on Saturday that it was "unable to move" due to its "overcrowded deck," alleging that no European coastguards have responded to its calls for help. [...] In an update posted on Twitter on Saturday afternoon, the Louise Michel said its crew members were still waiting for assistance half a day later.
[...] The pink vessel, named after a French anarchist and bought by Banksy from the proceeds of one of his artworks, aims to "uphold maritime law and rescue anyone in peril without prejudice," according to the project's website. ... As well as being customized for search and rescue operations, the Louise Michel is "captained and crewed by a team of rescue professionals drawn from across Europe," the boat's website added. (MORE - details)
Cynical Sindee: Kind of vaguely reminiscent of those disastrous PlayPumps that our similarly, notoriously naïve Hollywood entertainers invested in. Which actually made life more difficult for women afterwards by eliminating the (at least) reliable hand-cranked water pumps they had formerly been waiting in line everyday to manually carry water from.
Yes, coastguards might be slow to help because the last thing they need is having to squander their scarce resources and time on an overpopulation of idiots venturing unnecessarily out into the sea, in contrast to those marine vessels genuinely suffering accidents in the course of real work and industry. The amateur rescue boat isn't "captained and crewed by team of professionals" if they allow the deck to be overcrowded.
Aside from the irony of Marxism and its various Neo-Left offshoot sects stealing or mimicking religious do-gooder-ism, it also purloins the deceptive aspect of some Christian personality-cults too. As a means of using altruistic morality to sucker the proletariat into its ideology. Kind of like a frog in a slow boiling pot -- too late when it realizes what it actually subscribed to.
EDIT ADDITION: The Italian coastguard supposedly took on board 49 of the refugees. Apparently the Banksy boat flies a German flag, but no indication yet of what country it was ultimately taking the refugees.
As if the name of the boat wasn't evident enough that they really were radical left-niks, the captain herself openly admitted that their rescues are not for humanitarian reasons, but to further red political agendas. The para-religious authoritarianism is already evident with respect to either the holy name of the vessel and/or representation of issues in that context only allowed utterance by the Ideological Sisters of the sub-Marxist coven.

"Klemp, who initially thought it was a joke, believes she was chosen by Banksy due to her political stance. 'I don’t see sea rescue as a humanitarian action, but as part of an anti-fascist fight,' she told the Guardian. [...] The 10 crew members of the Louise Michel have diverse backgrounds, but they all identify as anti-racist and anti-fascist activists advocating for radical political change. As it is a feminist project, only female crew members are allowed to speak in the name of the Louise Michel. (Roots of anti-fascism, non-US: The label of fascism was applied to ANY dissident citizen who opposed Marxism's former governmental stranglehold in Eastern Europe.)
These migrants are playthings between two self-interested agencies:
(1) The EU which does not want to be or cannot afford to be a perpetual liferaft for the tragic woes of the rest of the world.
(2) And the radical left which is using a facade of compassion and crusader-ism (and EU taxpayer funding on the road to acquiring residence in Europe) to convert such recipients and onlookers to supporters of its system. Much as Christian missionaries have provided aid to regional communities for decades/centuries to convert them, as a side effect, to a religious faith.
