Italians in Space!

What really made it possible for Italians to leave Earth was the development of a vital piece of technology.

The Zero G Expresso Machine!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISSpresso

Jointly developed by Italian expresso machine company Lavassa, Italian aerospace company Argotec and the Italian Space Agency, the machine is designed to work in zero G, is built more stoutly than commercial expresso machines, has fittings to fit the space station's water and electrical supplies and is very sparing with how it uses water, producing almost no wastewater.

Not only that, the Italians needed a more stylish way to drink their cosmic expressos than squeezing them out of a plastic bag. So they invented an actual zero G drinking cup that conducts fluid to the mouth by capillary action.

It was delivered to the ISS by a SpaceX cargo dragon. Elon, who rarely sleeps and lives at warp speed, must have recognized the absolute necessity of a space expresso machine to his vision of the future of the human race.

Photo of the expresso machine on the Space Station, being admired by Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, the first person to drink a space-brewed expresso in space. (And history's first space barista, since the other astronauts probably wanted some too.)

Samantha using the necessarily peculiar zero G drinking cup in the Space Station cupola. I assume she has to kind of suck it out of the cup.
