EXCERPT: [...] protests, riots and looting ... in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd ... A former president of the ... NAACP St. Paul chapter was at the scene Thursday trying to get medication for her daughter ... “St. Paul ain’t got sh__ to do with what happened,” Diane Binns says in the [video] recording. “These people don’t give a damn about George Floyd. These motherf_____s need to go home,” she said.

Binns, 70, has spent much of her life participating in activism [...] She told the Spokesman-Recorder in 2017 that “I’ve grown up in racism my whole life.” She also was in Minneapolis for the riots in the 60s, according to the MN Reformer.

[...] she went to the rally in Minneapolis the first day after Floyd was killed. “I thought that it was going to be a rally, but as it got to the end, I was there about 30 minutes and I realized that it wasn’t a rally, it was going to be a riot,” she said. After overhearing the plans for the riot ... she left and didn’t return.

[...] “I haven’t been up here since. I watched what they were live streaming on video and the destruction that they did to their own communities. What are people going to do that live in those communities, and they need those resources? We don’t have many stores as it is. So why are we going to burn down the small business owners who are there for us? Most folks have moved out of the community, most businesses are gone, we don’t have business in the community.” (MORE)

Protesters storm CNN building in furious Atlanta protest
https://nypost.com/2020/05/29/protesters...a-protest/

EXCERPT: After hours of peaceful protest in downtown Atlanta, some demonstrators suddenly turned violent, smashing police cars, setting one on fire, spray-painting the iconic logo sign at CNN headquarters, and breaking into a restaurant. The crowd pelted officers with bottles, chanting “Quit your jobs.”

At least three officers were hurt and there were multiple arrests, Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said in an emailed statement. Campos said protesters shot BB guns at officers and threw bricks, bottles and knives at them. People watched the scene from rooftops, some laughing as skirmishes broke out. Demonstrators ignored police demands to disperse. Some protesters moved to the city’s major interstate thoroughfare to try to block traffic.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms passionately addressed the protesters at a news conference: “This is not a protest. This is not in the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr.”

“You are disgracing our city,” she told protesters. “You are disgracing the life of George Floyd and every other person who has been killed in this country. We are better than this. We are better than this as a city. We are better than this as a country. Go home, go home.”

Bottoms was flanked by rappers T.I. and Killer Mike, as well as King’s daughter, Bernice King. Killer Mike cried as he spoke. “We have to be better than this moment. We have to be better than burning down our own homes. Because if we lose Atlanta what have we got?” he said.

After Mayor Bottoms appealed for calm, the violence continued. More cars were set on fire, a Starbucks was smashed up, the windows of the College Football Hall of Fame were broken, and the iconic Omni Hotel was vandalized... (MORE - details)

Just having COVID here doesn’t sound too bad all of a sudden. Always good to have ‘Killer’ around to quell riots or as a motivational speaker. Scares me to think Justin Trudeau talking about opening Canada/USA border. To think it’s all happening about 1km from me across the River.

The riots are springing up everywhere. There’s a protest scheduled in my community today. I highly doubt that we’ll see any violence or looting because I live in a small town where everybody knows everybody.

But after seeing Trump’s tweet, I was wondering if can you legally shoot looters? The answers that I’m finding aren’t very clear.

In an extremely progressive, "Church of Woke" preaching state, province, or country -- I'd even be afraid of a burglar cutting himself on a piece of glass while breaking into my property (litigation, incrimination, etc). Would make sure the perpetrator had as safe access as reasonably possible through whatever portal they chose to break through.

Darn sure wouldn't post about it on twitter, anyway, and invite call-out culture to descend like a horde of holier-than-thou, sensibility vultures trying to score virtue points for redeeming their misplaced ancestral guilt and absolve their own personal pasts. ("We had some inept thieves injure themselves while invading our closed shop last night. Blood all over the place. Ha, ha. Serves them right.")
