Money buys you a longer life, even under a "fair" healthcare system (UK community)
https://gizmodo.com/money-buys-you-a-lon...1841979444

EXCERPT: We all know the U.S. healthcare system is unequal and inhumane, but apparently your income can determine your lifespan even in places with fairly good healthcare. A new report from the UK shows that, despite ostensibly equal access to healthcare, people with a lower income and who live in less affluent areas have shorter lives by nearly 10 years.

The report, “Health Equity in England,” is based on epidemiological surveys in the UK and shows that in the most economically depressed 10 percent of the country, life expectancy is the shortest, while in neighborhoods representing the wealthiest 10 percent, life expectancy is the longest. Moreover, in the last decade, that health gap has gotten worse, and the expected increase in life expectancy has stalled overall—the first time that has happened in the UK in 100 years.

[...] In countries like the U.S. ... inequities in health and therefore in lifespan between the richest and poorest may not be surprising. But the fact that this rich vs. poor divide exists in the UK highlights how money influences nearly everything about a person’s experience on this planet. ... since the original report on the issue of health inequality in the UK appeared back in 2010 ... there has been little improvement in fixing the health gap between rich and poor.

Indeed, the disparity in life expectancies has widened in the last 10 years. [...] Put another way, men living in the most deprived parts of England might expect to live to be 73.9 years old, while those living in wealthiest neighborhoods of London might expect to live to be 83.4 years old. While life expectancy for women continues to be longer than for men, the mortality gap persists here, too, with the poorest women expected to make it to 78.6 years old while those more financially well off may make it to 86.3 years old... Ex-British Admiral Claims ‘Americans Very Jealous of Amazing’ UK Aircraft Carriers (UK community)
https://sputniknews.com/military/2020022...-carriers/

EXCERPT: On Friday, the state-of-the-art UK aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales arrived in Liverpool for a week-long visit. Lord Alan West, former British Admiral and Labour peer, has heaped praise on the UK’s two new aircraft carriers, claiming that the US currently feels a touch of jealousy toward the Royal Navy. “It is massive […] they are incredible, the Americans are very jealous of it and it means we are able to reduce the manpower quite dramatically”, he argued.

Lord West recalled that in an US aircraft carrier, “the weapon managing facilities takes 300 men, [while] in our ships it is something like 30 men. [...] The US is very envious of what we have got. They are also around half the cost of American ships – they are amazing ships and we should be incredibly proud of our vessels”, he added, in an apparent reference to the British aircraft carriers Prince of Wales and Queen Elizabeth.

The remarks come after HMS Prince of Wales arrived at the River Mersey in Liverpool on Friday, and is reportedly expected “to attract thousands of visitors while berthed at Liverpool's cruise terminal”. (MORE - details)

Blow to Harry and Meghan? Canada won’t pay for security, leaving U.K. with the big bill (Canadian community)
https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2020/02/28/...-big-bill/

EXCERPT: The Canada government has announced that it will stop providing security for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, leaving it to the British government to cover the entire cost of guarding the couple and their baby son, Archie — even if they no longer live in the U.K.

This news does not sit well with many British politicians and members of the public who have questioned why taxpayers should continue to pay for the couple’s security as they embark on their new lives as non-working members of the royal family. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can’t have it both ways: either they’re working royals with the obligations which that entails, or they’re private citizens seeking independence,” the U.K. Taxpayers Alliance said in a statement to the Daily Mail.

The news comes as Prince Harry is paying a visit to the U.K. from his new temporary home on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. [...] The Sussexes are expected to earn hundreds of millions of dollars as a financially independent couple, but as they live outside the U.K. and jet around the globe for their various commercial and philanthropic endeavors, the cost to guard them around-the-clock could balloon to as much as $25 million a year...

In a statement last week, Harry and Meghan sounded as though they believed they were entitled to have their security paid for. [...] The duke and duchess said this need was based on Harry’s past military service and role as a member of the royal family and Meghan’s “own independent profile.” However, they declined to comment on who would be footing the bill for their security.

Canada has said it won’t help with the costs [...] once the couple cease to be active members of the royal family on March 31. ... Bill Blair confirmed that the RCMP began providing security to the couple after they relocated to Canada in November for what was then thought to be an extended holiday. ... The Canadian government felt obligated to cooperate ... because the couple were recognized as “Internationally Protected Persons” ... that obligation ends with Harry and Meghan’s “change in status.”

Blair’s announcement should please Canadians, who, polls say, are overwhelmingly opposed having to pay for Harry and Meghan’s security. (MORE - details)

Income and health disparities always widen under leftist policies. Just like any socialist or communist country, where the ruling elite amass wealth while the average citizen sees increasing deprivation.

Not being able to provide that kind of manpower is not something to be proud of. UK desperately trying to reclaim its former naval glory.
