Trump vs. American farmers

The latest casualty in Trump's trade war--the American farmers. China slapped tariffs on American soybeans in response to Trump's aluminum/steel tariffs and our farmers are suffering for it. Trump is scrambling for damage control. Wants to give them several billions in bailout money like during the Great Depression. They're not impressed. Neither is the rest of the world. He's the one creating the problem. No quick fixes will undo that.

"Farm groups are going on the offensive with a multimillion-dollar advertising and advocacy campaign against President Donald Trump’s tariffs just days after the administration rolled out a $12 billion bailout for farmers harmed by a mounting trade war.

The launch of the campaign also comes as Trump is due Thursday in Iowa and Illinois, where he is likely to reassure farmers growing increasingly anxious over trade retaliation that has targeted soybeans, pork and other major farm commodities.

“Agriculture is a giant, and it takes awhile to wake it up, but when it wakes up you better watch out,” said Brian Kuehl, executive director of Farmers for Free Trade, which is organizing the campaign.

The nonprofit group, which is backed by the American Farm Bureau Federation and major commodity groups like the National Pork Producers Council, is investing $2.5 million in the four-month campaign aimed at showcasing how the tariffs are causing pain among U.S. farmers and manufacturers because of Trump’s trade policies.

The centerpiece of the campaign is an advertisement set to run on Fox News, CNBC and CNN and in local television and radio markets in Iowa, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The ad calls out a July 19 remark by White House trade adviser Peter Navarro in which he called the impact of tariffs a “rounding error.”

“America’s farmers and factory workers are not a rounding error,” the ad says.

The organization will also deploy digital and print advertising as well as town hall events starting during the August congressional recess to get the attention of lawmakers back in their home states and districts..."

Quote:China slapped tariffs on American soybeans

the tarrifs are actually on right now ?

american farmers have been getting subsidised for years while they attempt to get other countrys to agree to free trade.
its the not free trade thats actually leveraging working class tax as a undercutting agent of a foriegn countrys economy.
its not very nice.
what he could do is ligitimise all those slave wage homeless mexicans that provide all the physical labour for those farmers who employ them illegally & legally.
undercutting the real living wage demands that they cant live in the usa.
they cant pay for medical care even though they are working in the usa.
im sure its not an easy fix like handing billions of dollars to your corporate buddys but it certainly is serving the long term betterment of the entire nation and helps south american countrys to get a bigger push toward better infastructure as it feeds the poverty line middle class.

what appears to be a majour problem is the shanti towns set up just south of the american border where all the legal migrant workers familys live and retail merchants set up to make money off the inflowing cash.
its all very pure capitalist but its propped up on the day to day wages of working visa's which is not very stable and means they will never get the money to put in real infastructure into those towns.
they appear to be fairly tidy, not real dirty, but you can see it is outlaw land. everyone has high fences bars on everything and every single piece of land has old wood and rubbish nailed together to be a house for someone to live in.

how easy it would be to put in government works to install schools trees park areas and turn what looks like a grocery store for gangs into a real community that can educate children and sustain urban living.
that will add value and allow them to build in to proper citys.

thing with Soya bean crops is they are almost 100% mechanised.
there is almost no manual labour involved
big very expensive tractor drivers
truck drivers
then big factorys that strip & prep the product.
soo the loss for soya beans will be usa mechanised robot farming against manual labour chinese farming.
the machinery companys will be getting twitchy
some bankers will be getting twitchy
some Farm lending bankers may lose their jobs(big republican donators i should expect)

it will be interesting to see how things play out.
i would expect the commodity brokers to be getting a little nervous
