Consider for a moment that the contending scientific theory for how our universe came to be is the Big bang theory. Now, if this is correct, then our universe, although enough time has passed such that it is now incomprehensibly large but still finite, then expansion is not the issue. The issue is whether the universe is expanding into an infinite space or if it will come to a halt and reverse or contract. If spacetime had a beginning, then it is reasonable to conclude that literally nothing exists outside spacetime. Imagine for a minute that the universe was fine-tuned for life as we know it, then that would mean that the constants were designed for life. Either that or life was inevitable given that lifeforms are self-perceptual and we live in a self-perceptual universe. God would be part of the self-distributed model of reality. Meaning that there is no distinction between internal and external. YES! God must be a reality! Otherwise the experience of His greatness would not come to be realized. I for one, am 100% certain of God's existence.
