Noetic experiences

Noetic experiences are described as transcendent experiences resulting in knowing something with an intuitive and inner certainty, There are several examples of this: near death experiences, a trip on mushrooms, particularly DMT, religious experiences, strong deja vu, meditation, encounters with the supernatural, synchronicities, and psychic impressions that turned out to be true. Have you ever had a noetic experience? What was it like?

Had a relative who under the influence of medication during a hospital stay (and after surgery) was experiencing hallucinations. The kind where when the eyes are closed a completely different world of events is seen unfolding, and when opened it's back to the normal environment. Doing it repeatedly informed him that the "other place" was changing in a regulated fashion just as the same as this one, as if he was simply spying on the progress of a parallel universe through the senses of one of its inhabitants.

He was pretty startled / disturbed by the experiences, since he had never been into any substance abuse in the past. The details of his descriptions even made an impression on me in terms of the degree of simulated reality which a brain can generate on the fly that is internally coherent, since I've always known him as level-headed and sensible person not given to fancy and jeepers. Does occasionally make a difference when you personally know the source of an "anecdote", though you can never transfer your past to the public so that there's smothering apprehension of why you have the confidence.
