Calcium carbonate + xylitol tooth treatment

Calcium carbonate powder and xylitol for tooth care

My hope is to raise mouth pH, provide calcium for remineralization, and reduce bacteria.

The calcium carbonate is for acid neutralization and providing calcium.  Xylitol is for inhibiting bacteria.  It also should stimulate saliva secretion for helping remineralization and acid neutralizing.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that many bacteria have difficulty digesting. Also, xylitol is slowly or not digested by the human digestive system. That could help lower glycemic loading on the body. Keep sugar alcohols away from dogs.

Homemade tooth powder or paste. Interesting approach, Elte. More ingredients might even be tweaked into it.

Thank you C C.  I had minimalism for it in mind because I see it as supplemental to toothpaste.  The proportion of the xylitol and calcium carbonate can be adjusted as needed.   Each ingredient can also be used for general purposes.  Xylitol could also be helpful as a sweetener.   The calcium could find use to neutralize lemon acid before eating to protect tooth enamel.

Minimal is probably best, anyway. More ingredients would mean an untested mix with possible negative side-effects over the long haul. Rarely wanted to be my own lab rat.
