DYI: Cyotec Gif Animator

Cyotec Gif Animator (CGA) is kind of like a more robust version of the old Microsoft Gif Animator. But I'm making that comparison purely because it features all the adjustable attributes for an individual frame that MGA did. Which is rare for free animated gif programs nowadays (even paid ones). Cytok's pet has some additional editing features built in, but it is its ability to export a particular frame to a full-blown image editor to be worked on and then transfer it back that places it up the evolutionary ladder. Back in MGA's heyday you had to do that with a lot of manual cut, copy & pasting between it and your favorite external graphics software. (And still do if you use it; MS abandoned it ages ago, though it still works on most Windows).

If you want to see what CGA's own site says about it, you'll discover that it's still in beta stage. Which is to say, there might or might not be some minor bugs, which is the whole point: They need people to use it and find / report them.

If you download CGA to try it out (I have in the past), also make sure you scan the EXE file with your antivirus or Malwalebytes before opening it (right-click it to bring up the context menu which should have that option). Just because something was safe weeks, months, or years before doesn't mean it stays that way, as demonstrated this month by high reputation CCleaner getting hacked by perpetrators who inserted a vile supplement into it: "CCleaner hacked with malware: What you need to know".

Freeware occasionally has OpenCandy in it, anyway, which amounts to extra potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), adware, and information gathering components at least vaguely akin to what Chrome browser and Google's other services are anonymously(?) collecting about your habits (which is to say, this kind of stuff is arguably in legal territory, which is why it's allowed). Always go the customized route for installation so that you can un-click any PUPs and toolbars and changes you don't want. Run a system-wide Malwarebytes scan afterwards to remove any OpenCandy info-gathering files that might have been deposited (in case the antivirus or MB itself didn't detect such beforehand in the EXE file, zip folder, etc).
