Baby it's cold outside

Couple rewrites the lyrics of 'Baby It's Cold Outside' in a cover emphasizing consent

I really can't stay/Baby I'm fine with that
I've got to go away/Baby I'm cool with that
This evening has been/Been hoping you get home safe
So very nice/I'm glad you had a real good time
My mother will start to worry/Call her so she knows that you're coming
Father will be pacing the floor/Better get your car a-humming
So really I'd better scurry/No rush.
Should I use the front or back door?/Which one are you pulling towards more?
The neighbors might think/That you're a real nice girl
What is this drink?/Pomegranate La Croix
I wish I knew how/Maybe I can help you out
To break this spell/I don't know what you're talking about
I ought to say no, no, no/you reserve the right to say no
At least I'm gonna say that I tried/you reserve the right to say no
I really can't stay/...Well you don't have to
Baby it's cold outside
I've got to get home/Do you know how to get there from here
Say, where is my coat/I'll go and grab it my dear
You've really been grand/We'll have to do this again
Yes I agree/How 'bout the Cheesecake Factory?
We're bound to be talking tomorrow/Text me at your earliest convenience
At least I have been getting that vibe/Unless I catch pneumonia and die
I'll be on my way/Thanks for the great night

Is it really a rewrite about consent, or is it a rewrite about how men need to protect women from themselves? After all, the original was about two consenting adults doing the dance of justifying their action to themselves. And would any self-respecting woman actually go for this guy who constantly makes excuses for not taking any initiative?

And we wonder how the youth in Japan lose all interest in sex.

I agree.  I think that Ben said it best when he asked, "When, in your mind, did "Baby, it's Cold Outside" become rape?"

Ben most people would turn you away
I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to'
I'm sure they'd think again if they had a friend like Ben  Big Grin

I wonder how he's doing.

"The song was seen as presenting a liberal stand for women because the guest decides to stay despite what the neighbors might say about her reputation." [source]

How about the Cheesecake Factory? In my most depraved state and without using the King's language I couldn't utter a more stinging insult. Guy's a loser, couldn't get laid in a women's prison with a handful of pardons.

Cheesecake (from Apple): a photograph, movie or piece of art that portrays women in a manner emphasizing stereotypical sexual attractiveness.

Time to say the right things, end the relationship and go home. Be nice, maybe she has friends. Catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

the song is written and performed in an era when a womens entire life could be trashed by being seen going home late from a mans place.
