Is There Anything Weirder Than.......

Well the odds of the two cars having consecutive tag numbers might not be as low as one thinks. I live on a peninsula with roughly 400,000 others. At what we call the licence bureau, car tags can be purchased. It is customary for these offices to have a certain allotment of licence plates designated to them for our area. An allotment contains a quantity of plates with consecutive numbers. If I were to estimate 150,000 cars for our area then the odds would be higher for the coincidental happenstance than say all the cars of Ontario. Still there's a ton of parking lots and to meet up in one seems like an good eventuality.

I remember when I was a kid that I once saw two connected railway cars in a RR yard, each belonging to a different company but having the exact same (6 or 7 digits...not sure) number sequence stencilled onto their sides. I can recognize or remember number related images better than faces....not sure if that's normal. Huh

Also the coincidence of being there at roughly the same time and him parking where you can see his license plate. It still seems pretty amazing.

Also kind of strange that we both went to same restaurant for breakfast. This was actually the first time we went to this diner and that was only because I got to know the owner, having played a couple rounds of golf with him. The golf came about purely by accident, we both went to the course alone on two occasions only to be paired up by the people at the golf course. I guess if those two chance meetings had never happened, the wife and I would not have ended up at the diner today. Certainly fuel for those who believe everything is predetermined or that things happen for reason. For me it's just some strange luck and if something can happen then it just might. I'd say for every coincidence there are several zillions that never occur.

Here's an in-house one.

We were discussing Echo spying on us on January 5th.

I used the word 'springboard' in the privacy of my bathroom.

A few days later, on January 9th…

It’s either a coincidence, and commonly used in the exact same context, or you’re an expert hacker.  Big Grin

Hey, I used the word coincidences in Post #18. As Popeye would say, what a co-inky-dink.  Big Grin

....deja vu. As a kid I experienced it several times but rarely as an adult. Last year I needed a part for my cottage's water heater. It's the same water heater found in a recreational vehicle(RV). Down the road from me is an RV dealer who sold parts. I went inside and the person there asked me to wait a few minutes until his boss showed up because this part was unfamiliar. Anyway the boss shows up and tells me he may have that part in an outbuilding on the property he owns. To get there we had to weave our way through an assortment of RV's that he was sellng. I'm telling you that this act was one of the strongest deja vu moments of my life. I swear that I knew what I was going to see next. It lasted a good 5-10 seconds, it was so strong a feeling of a happening that I had either completed or witnessed before.

I honestly stopped in my tracks once I realized deja vu. Interesting that deja vu seems to end when you acknowledge the happening. I've read where the feeling has something to do with a brain delay. It never seems to have anything to do with whatever I'm trying to accomplish but a lot to do with what I think I'm witnessing.

I like how the movie The Matrix dealt with it, some kind of adjustment by powers that can control time. Something like that.

Anything weirder than that feeling you've died and were instantly transported to another universe or plane of existence to continue on living? For me it happened many years ago when I accidentally slipped on some loose gravel on the bank of a raging river and got swept in. I remember thinking I was drowning, wondering if I'll ever surface to breathe again. Don't know how but suddenly I'm clinging to a rock in midstream by one hand as the current tried to dislodge me back into the torrent of rushing water. I could see the riverbank, 40-50 feet away and managed to get a foothold on the bottom. Realizing I might be able to walk out as long as the depth allowed me, I gave it everything I had to crawl onto the safe haven of shoreline. When I made it there was much relief and after I managed to stumble into a nearby meadow, I laid down exhausted.

When I came around my clothes were partially dried and I got up to return to where I had first slid in. I was camping with friends who upon seeing me approach started laughing, saying I looked like the creature from the Black Lagoon. They thought I had gone for a hike, I'd been missing for about 2 hours.

The whole scene seemed kind of unreal, like I'd step into something out of the range of normal. I tried to rationalize what was happening but I believe I was in a state of shock. Perhaps my having survived the ordeal plus my mental state distorted my view on reality, don't know. For the longest time I felt as if I had died out there. I swear I was drowning, it was very painful and that's what dominated my thinking ...where did the pain go once I clutched that rock? Not once did I cough up any water nor did I feel like I'd even swallowed any.

I firmly am of the opinion there is a rational explanation for my thoughts following the event and I didn't die or get transported to another realm but I can understand why some people feel that way.
