Animated gif rather than a music video. The ninth line in the third section of verse deviates to ten syllables instead of nine. The melody note for "hope" would be split in half to cover the [that] in brackets. "Bot" could have replaced "robot", but it feels slightly off in conveying the suggestion of "human myrmidon".  And "droid" serves as no metaphor for that -- even reduced to a freaking mobile OS nowadays.

MUSIC GENRE: Heavy Metal (Goth, Doom, Death, etc sub-categories)

Till Animation Reappears (song lyrics)

Your ending was like a doomsday birth.
A grave spasm of the tortured Earth
That ruptured open an arid plain,
Baring deep entrails where the fiends reign.

Your body smells dead.
But don't be misled.
Your body feels cold.
But the twelve aren't sold.
Hibernation is a refuge trait.

[CHORUS] So while custom would rush to cremate...
It's better to watch, better to wait.
Bear the shrill silence for months or years
Till animation reappears.

- - - - - -

Fate is like a water skipping stone.
We sink or bounce by how we are thrown.
Except you cheat like a flying fish,
Breathing below whenever you wish.

One cadet can spread
What the master said.
One crew can rebuild
What before was killed.
Seed is that next tree ramming the gate.

[CHORUS] Though the victors rush to celebrate...
It's better to watch, better to wait.
Bear the shrill silence for months or years
Till animation reappears.

- - - - - -

Your beginning was an extinction
That nourished the vulture distinction.
Your epicenter drew them like fleas,
Thick as iguanas falling from freeze.

Oh, could they succumb
To their clockwork thrum?
Is cog suicide
For gearwheels that hide?
Don't hold hope [that] robots self-detonate.

[CHORUS] So while the upbeats may bite the bait...
It's better to watch, better to wait.
Bear the shrill silence for months or years
Till animation reappears.

WTF! That one made me chuckle. Wonder what an ichthyologist would think of those lines? Thought of a few more (they're free):

You don't care if sharks are thinking
Clamping jaws on something sinking

You hide inside the mouths of whales
Appearing when the beast exhales

You're like the snake that doesn't talk
Shedding your skin against the rock

You protect us like a mother bear
Fast asleep inside her lair

Well done, C C! It makes me think of climate change.

"Breathing below whenever you wish."

Deep-sea hydrothermal vents popped into my mind.

And Zinman's additions aren't too bad.

When I first saw the words I thought of some apocalyptic scene where robots had destroyed civilization, something like Terminator but the Bots win, sort of. Then my mind switched to the Nostromo and its hibernating crew, we’re not really dead and when we wake up, Bots better look out.  Humanity has a few tricks up its sleeve to waste machinery, animation is humanity returning to take back the Earth.  Until then be extremely careful but in the end we'll have to deal with it, like it or not.  In the meantime we go deep, space, ground or underwater, water not being too kind to moving metal.

No offence intended CC about fish comment. .... I think maybe you're saying flying fish wishing to breathe underwater could translate into humanity wishing to get above ground again. Good when words can create an image in one's mind and even better when an entire movie is created in your head.

Yah (addressing all the quotes), post-Dylan, the thing about song lyrics is designing them to convey parallel, multiple threads of meaning and imagery throughout (a kind of generic template), to give the listener more options for personally relating to it. [EDIT: Layers of plural meaning does indeed include Jazz Age double entendres, Zin. Wink]

For instance, Richard Patrick SHOULD have had both Dwyer and Cobain (etc) in mind when he wrote "Hey Man Nice Shot", rather than the lyrics accidentally lending themselves to both suicides. [EDIT: If the 1991 date it was originally conceived had not been a factor making that impossible.]

Exceptions, of course, are when the song is about specific storytelling of a real or fictional incident (like "The Night Chicago Died") or depicts a personal significance (like a past relationship of the writer/singer).

The stoutest money-makers might be songs crafted for weddings, birthdays, holidays, sports events, funerals, etc. Few of those are ever catchy enough to become popular, though, or replace/rival the existing favorites. Probably more useful for serving a one-person musical act with respect to being repeatedly hired to play/sing at local occasions, festivities, social functions (where the organizer wants something homegrown and unique rather than same-old, same-old, run into ground popular _X_ songs).

But OTOH, Edgar Cruz did fine in OKC (the early days) by doing solo guitar instrumentals of enduring pop favorites. (One way to breathe more life into of them by eliminating the lyrics altogether!) Saw him once when he passed through on tour, he did a remarkable job of maintaining both the melody and the arpeggio accompaniment of "Dust in the Wind" at the same time.

Let’s examine, poke and prod.
Are you an act of god?
You’re a spectacular mystery.
Tell me your history.
Such a precious composition.
Are you a magician?
Will you crumble and fall?
Become a skyscraper or a wall?
Is your reflectance inherent?
Are you translucent or transparent?
How strange you are.
Simple but bizarre.
Do you tic? Do you tock?
Or are you more than just a rock?

Bravo, SS. If today's publishing world wasn't so alien, unruly, and often sleeveless, I'd say you've dangerously pressed as close as one can to posting something that should have been saved for a future collection. No firm demarcation for the borderline, but it never hurts to throw in bits or self-sabotage or just withhold one at the last moment if it traveled up a benchmark on its own that wasn't originally planned or expected. Thanks for taking the risk to graze the ceiling and share, though -- delightful.  :)

Believe it or not ...it is snowing here. Lots of it. Got bored, started thinking about Elon Musk and his Space Odyssey then jotted this ditty down. Maybe I'll add a few lines later. Had a hard time with this one so if it's a little bumpy then too F**king bad. Killed an hour.

Going for Launch

Heading down to Boca Chica Texas
Trying to find exactly where SpaceX is
Travelling down State Highway Number Four
To watch liftoff from the Kopernik Shore

Elon has the BFR set to go
The launch is sure to be a dazzling show
Rocket off the pad, into outer space
Later Boca Chica, becomes Starbase

Mr. Musk hates launches that get delayed
Costing him money, he wants to get paid
However his Grimes has eyes for the stars
She's more than willing to expire on Mars

You might say he's a little eccentric
Rockets and thousands of cars electric
But happy knowing that all his ladies
Won't be caught dead inside a Mercedes

He's going to send passengers to the sky
For millions of dollars, I hope they don't die
When the flight is over, and there's no slip
Land on a pad on a floating drone ship.
