Every year in the United States almost 10,000 people are admitted to hospital emergency rooms for fireworks related injuries with most of these (roughly 60%) ocurring around July 4th.

10,000 people a year, and yet where are the outcries for banning fireworks? I don't count petitions to prohibit them due to local dry conditions to be among that class of national movements, fueled by health and injury concerns, that gets preached from the pulpit of public service messages and political sermons.
