Wow. This is a shocker! Now I have an excuse not to exercise. Well...not really. Exercise is still good for your heart.

Exercise doesn't make you lose weight |

It may not be a necessary factor for losing weight, but they darn sure better not be claiming that it has no effect in that area. I've been shocked over the years by the amount of weight some friends and neighbors lost simply by walking. When I took it up (for health reasons and not weight issues), I gradually became alarmed months later at how emaciated I was becoming. I actually had to start eating a lot more (it was either that or give up walking and other exercise).
We live in actual empirical circumstances and their erratic contingencies, not the stable generalizations that the social sciences and biomedical studies abstract from their data.
The video totally supports that exercise is a most important aspect of health, simply that it cannot offset overindulgence and compensatory behaviors of 'hand to mouth disorder'.
The fastest way to lose weight is to turn down your home thermostat a few degrees, eat smaller portions and spend less time being sedentary. Binging and then doing a burning workout is contradictory at best.
Exercise as a fixed level of regular activity or daily work-out should usually be implied in its usage. Leave it to pop-culture fads and commercial eccentricities to gimmick the semantic context away from being a routine practice to a sporadic compensation adjusted to fit the crime (incident of excessive eating).

Indeed. Notice how some of the worst offenders ally themselves with exercise and suggest that their product is a suitable 'reward' after a hard workout. Really? Well, I hope you enjoyed guzzling that soda or isotonic beverage because now you need to work out at least another 45 minutes to ditch those additional calories. Talk about a honey trap... |
