Australians Redesign Human Body to Resist Collisions

It seems that human beings have evolved to survive impacts at speeds that humans can propel themselves under their own power. So a human being can survive running on foot into a wall. But automobiles travel much faster than that and much larger forces are involved.

So the Victorian Traffic Accident Council consulted with some physicians on what kind of anatomy would be necessary to survive impacts at road speeds, then had an artist produce a model of a man with those features.

I guess that neck injuries are a major danger, so Man 2.0 doesn't have a neck. Armored skull and rib cage, no worries about a broken nose. All in all a tough opponent in a fight.

I'd guess that he might still be prone to concussions. Even if he can withstand high speed collisions with his surroundings, can his brain survive collision with the inside of his own skull?

Yep. There will doubtless be some unattractive products of transhuman engineering (whether of the genetic or cybernetic ilk). Either that or we also revise the acquired and any inherent standards we have for the beauty of the species so that those disparaging evaluations of the "new breeds" fade away.
