I'm Feeling Lucky

Can you remove the 'I'm Feeling Lucky' feature from Google's search engine?  If so, how?

The claim here, depending on if things have changed since February of this year, is that the IFLB is now hidden by default until activated in preferences. So maybe the reverse of their instructions will do it.

But if bygone days should still be applicable:

I haven't used Adblock Plus on Firefox in years, much less Element Hiding Helper. Plus I don't know if there is an equivalent add-on combination remedy for the majority that uses Chrome or other chromium-based browsers. Some claim that the filter preferences of Adblock Plus alone can get rid of it... But again, all I can do is point at these browser add-ons for that type of solution, since I've lost familiarity with them.

Otherwise, you might have to wait for Stryder to offer something less known or unconventional.

On Firefox, I use Quick Java to selectively shut-down whole functions on a webpage when I've got some reason to: The "zap them all and let how unworkable the site is after that sort them out" approach. Wink QJ would be useless for narrowing down to disabling or blocking a specific item like "I'm feeling lucky".

There might even be ways to tweak Firefox under the hood to block or disable specific things on pages, but I haven't prowled around in about:config for quite awhile. I assume Chrome has a similar advanced settings page, but it might be got to by some other route than typing in about:config
