Meteoritic dust came from stellar explosions older than the sun

EXCERPT: Researchers at Michigan State University say dust found at meteor sites on Earth came from ancient stellar explosions and likely predate the birth of the sun. Physicists are currently studying the microscopic meteoritic material for subatomic clues as to where it came from. Specifically, scientists want to know whether the stardust was forged and expelled in a classical nova -- an explosion on the surface of the larger companion in a binary star system....

Dust grains could be remnants of stellar explosions billions of years ago
http://esciencenews.com/articles/2016/03....years.ago

EXCERPT: Microscopic dust particles have been found in meteoritic material on Earth, particles that were likely formed in stellar explosions that occurred long before the creation of our star, the sun. Whether some of these particles of stardust, known as "pre-solar grains," came from classical nova explosions is the focus of ongoing experimental nuclear physics research at the National Superconducting Cyclotron laboratory at Michigan State University....
