If a mere 5 minute posting of an animated dramatization of the nuking of Nagasaki Japan destroys your pride in America, then it probably needed to be destroyed. No one thinks of something "not happening" unless they already have an expectation that it could happen.
No one says "it didn't rain" without any indication that it could have rained, like during a long drought. No one says "it's didn't rain on the moon," because no one expects that as a possibility.
