I asked a foreign exchange student who was staying with a couple I know what her immediate impression of America was. She said everybody is caught up with technology of some sort: phones, TVs, cars, Ipods, a/c, etc. I could see what she meant.

Difficult to understand a culture without living in it .. not easy even easy when you do live in it.
UK .. everybody loves football - right?
Wrong.
I was born here and have no interest in football. I have no family members interested in football and have never known anyone interested in football. In the last 50 years .. I was in a bank and a moron invited me to shake hands because his team had won a game - I refused on hygiene grounds. Another time was in a bar and someone was make football attention seeking noises and I rashly invited them to explain what was so good about football .. I have no memory of what they said. In 1966 my mother had parked me in an old folks home (visiting an old aunt) .. and they had the world cup on the telly and England beat Germany .. folks who had lived through two wars with Germany became surprisingly animated.
I've probably (unknowingly) met more pigeon fanciers than football supporters.

My visceral hatred for all spectator sports becomes manifest as a series of snarky comments I make every time they are mentioned on the TV news, like I'm supposed to be keeping track of all this shit. FIFA, The Superbowel, The World Series, March Madness-- you name it. I have nothing but disgust for the mindset that thrives upon mindlessly cheering on a group of undereducated overpaid wife-abusing cretins knocking balls around between each other. Need I say more? lol

Of course, the haters can't even just allow Americans to be proud of their country. Can only build yourself up by tearing others down.

I'm pleased to see you agree that removing the context from a piece of text can render it meaningless.

You don't need haters or indeed anybody to allow you to be proud of your country. Just be proud of it. Don't try to argue online about it like you're a loser with nothing better to do.

No, that's called the hecklers veto. Just giving in to haters proves to them that their hatred is effective at silencing you.
I'd rather call them what they are... jealous little haters trying to defend their shit little lives.
And you not letting it go is just proving my point. You have all this energy to shut down others just expressing themselves.... because it somehow threatens you.

You don't express yourself at all. You hide behind repeated talking points, cliche-ridden ad homs, MAGA incel YouTuber videos, and LLM cut n' pastes. So there's nothing to shut down. You are too afraid others will use that personal information against you just as you dickishly do to them. I'd be afraid too if I were you.

Yet you still spend so much energy trying to shut it down (usually with sad fallacies, like you're examples). I've given you tons of personal information, if you could only remember (but much of it doesn't fit your bigoted stereotypes). I'm just not a loser, like you, that either has a lot to be ashamed of or so insecure that so easily gets defensive.
But... why can't you be proud to be an American? Have you ever been?

I'm reminded of my story about the moronic football supporter that wanted to shake my hand after his team had won. I'm guessing he was initially puzzled by my rejection .. followed by a desire to attack me for failing to accede to what he thought was a reasonable request. His buddy wasn't paying attention so the odds weren't in his favor and he walked away. In a text based forum you can claim victory whenever like .. is that what I'm seeing?
