75 to 80% want Islamic Law
https://youtu.be/woM73K1g4dI
VIDEO EXCERPTS: The government is facing mounting pressure to change the law so a Rochdale grooming gang ringleader can be deported.
Shabir Ahmed, 73, who has been stripped of his British citizenship, leaving him with only Pakistani nationality, cannot be deported due to a 1971 law that forbids the removal of a small group of Commonwealth citizens who arrived in the UK more than 50 years ago.
Alex Phillips is joined by Dr. Taj Hargey, Director of the Oxford Institute for British Islam and Imam of the Oxford Islamic Congregation, to discuss this.
Thank you so much for coming on the program, Dr. Hargey. Let's first of all frame this through the Rochdale grooming gang leader whom Number 10 seems to want to deport but doesn't seem to be able to.
[...] Unfortunately, most Muslims are not fully integrated into the society. They want to take the benefits of the society without giving back anything towards this country. So I think this is our biggest problem. How to get Muslims to be fully integrated, fully adapted, and adjusted to this society.
And sadly our leadership -- whether amongst the clergy or in civil society -- are not talking enough about this. For example, right now we have about 20 British MPs who are Muslims in parliament. They have said absolutely nothing about Shabir Ahmed, this vile monster who is now free. Neither does the Muslim Association of Britain or the Muslim Council of Britain or any Muslim woman's network. None of them actually made any comment whatsoever about this disgusting man, this pedophile.
So this is really indicative of the notion that many Muslims are not fully integrated. Unlike myself. I consider myself a patriot even though I came here many years ago through the front door and not the back door. I'm proud to be British, and I will uphold British values and its democracy. [...] How to get British Muslims to become part and parcel of the society and not apart from it. That's the conundrum...
