The FIFA World Cup has come back to America, and with it have come stars such as Arriaga, Arriaga 2, Barriaga, Aruglia, and Pizzoza. One unexpected star to emerge from the games didn’t gain acclaim by setting foot on the pitch, but by documenting his journey around the country and into Canada on X. Now FreddyLA7, as he was known, has been bullied off the platform, leaving fans yearning for his wholesome content.

He went to Bucc-ee’s. He visited Taco Bell. He was invited to the White House. He toured the NASA Space Center in Houston and enjoyed treats in his room at the Post Oak Hotel supplied by J.J. Watt. He attended an Ella Langley concert and was invited backstage to meet the musician. He did all this anonymously, using a picture of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo to obscure his own face in photos.

Naturally, this resulted in him being labeled a CIA plant being used to drum up patriotic fervor. Seriously. This is why we can’t have nice things. A young German man comes to America, tours the South, and shares his wonder at the splendor the region has to offer, and the response is to label him a psy-op.

It’s not that he was anonymous or a psy-op, it’s that the internet hates positivity. We, users, can claim that we want less vitriol, less ragebait, less doomscrolling, but the attention economy rewards what gets attention, and people like Freddy, if that is his real name!, don’t normally get that much attention.

Freddy's back on X!! And says

"Hello again.

We’re currently in Clemson, South Carolina. I’ve decided to come back here to document the final part of our road trip.

The main reason I deactivated my account two weeks ago was that things became increasingly toxic. For some people, it’s unfortunately unfathomable that a good story can exist without some kind of hidden agenda behind it. There was even a Reddit group going through my entire account trying to find anything they could use to reveal my identity.

I know this was only a small percentage of people, but after a while it became exhausting. During the last two weeks, I received so many kind messages on Instagram, and they really made me realize how many people genuinely enjoyed following the trip. Some people even told me that their grandparents regularly ask them, “What are the Germans up to today?” I think that’s really cool.

I decided to continue because I realized that the overwhelming majority of people loved following along. A small group of very loud people shouldn’t be able to ruin something that brought so many others joy.

I also want to clear something up, as people who follow me on Instagram already know.

I’ve been to the United States before. This is not my first visit, and I’ve never claimed that it was. The last time I was here was in January 2022, when I visited New York and Philadelphia.

A lot of people shared my Raising Cane’s post from November 2025 to make it look like I was secretly American. That post wasn’t from the United States, it was from my trip to Saudi Arabia.

This is my first time back in the U.S. in more than four years, and apart from Boston, I’d never visited any of the places we’ve been to on this trip before. That’s probably why many people assumed it was our first time in America, because for all of these places, it actually was.

And let me tell you, Ohio and Alabama are very different from New York City or Los Angeles.

I think that one of the things that a certain kind of person doesn't like about Freddy is precisely that - that he likes Ohio and Alabama more than NYC or LA. Which marks him as one of *them* rather than one of *us*. Freddy's in love with small-town America.

A short recap of what we did over the last two weeks. Our route was Boston to Savannah, GA, down the coast and then back up to Clemson:

- Swam in a lot of lakes in Pennsylvania because of the heatwave
- Watched a pie eating contest in Virginia
- Celebrated 4th of July in Washington DC
- Relaxed at the beaches in Delaware
- Saw wild horses in Chincoteague, VA
- Went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina
- Had a baby bear block our road in North Carolina
- Tried many new fast food chains like Bojangles and Sonic
- Ate a lot (probably too much) at Taco Bell
- Played minigolf in Myrtle Beach
- Visited beautiful cities like Charleston and Savannah
- Saw an alligator and a lot more cool wildlife

I'm betting that middle-America would be just as foreign to many who live on the western or northeastern coasts. Knee-jerk reaction to the idea that most of America is actually better, friendlier, cleaner, etc..

I guess people have interacted with him, including Ella Langley. He's also been invited to and participated in tours of various buildings and complexes.

Freddy was invited to Langley’s concert on Thursday night and got to meet her. Visiting with Langley was one of many surreal experiences the German soccer fan has gotten to experience during his trip to America.

The German soccer fan and his two friends have been given tours of the New Orleans Saints’ and New Orleans Pelicans' facilities, been put up in a hotel by Houston Texans great J.J. Watt, took a tour of LSU and Tiger Stadium, hung out with the Houston Police Department, met the mayor of Houston, and took a tour of the International Space Station with NASA.

Adams, who has family that is German and speaks the language fluently, said that he was able to connect with Freddy and invite him for a tour of the State Department, the White House, and an opportunity to see the "most beautiful capitol of the world" in Washington, D.C. Adams said it was important to recognize Freddy as someone who isn’t from America but loves the country nonetheless.
