VIDEO EXCERPTS: The first article that I want to show you is this one. It's about the European Union wanting households to cut peak time energy use to accommodate demand from industry and AI data centers.
The European Commission wants households to use less energy at peak times to reduce bills and take pressure off the grid in preparation for an explosion of power demand from artificial intelligence data centers and electrification of the economy.
One EU executive said that they want to roll out an AI powered smart meter which gives consumers greater control over their use of electricity, allowing them to shift consumption to cheaper hours and lower their bills. The hope is this will prompt households to cut their electricity use at evening hours when demand is highest, keeping prices lower and leaving more power available for the industry.
Data centers already account for 2.5% of the EU energy use. And the demand is expected to more than double over the next four years. that will put increasing pressure on a grid already struggling to meet the demands of the clean energy transition. Imagine there's a blackout because of AI. That would be something, right? Energy commissioner presented the roll out of smart meters as one of the positive impacts of AI.
[...] Also, working until 65 in Austria is not enough. Now, some kind of industrial president wants us to work until 68. So, every couple of years they raise the pension age and then they say, "Oh, this is still not enough. We need to raise it even further."
Because the truth is, I think they don't want to pay us our pension. They hope that you will die earlier. So they don't have to pay you something at all. So yeah, we have a huge problem in Europe. We have a lot of older people, but only a few young people who are paying taxes for those older people. And then our politicians have nothing better to do than spending our tax money on expenses like war or other luxury projects.
[...] Oil is becoming increasingly scarce even from the USA and now Germany is fearing a new oil price shock. The critical phase will be in August. Industry in Germany anticipates increasing burdens due to higher energy and raw material prices. Experts warn of another oil shock. Companies are facing new challenges. Experts predict that the prices will remain high and rise even further...
