“Conspiracy of silence" persists about Joe's mental decline? (2017 to 2024 history)

VIDEO EXCERPTS: Here's what I'm going to lead with. I'm going to play for you the Jill Biden sound bite [...] Dr. Biden has a book coming out.

Some people might wonder, well, Mark, why are you still talking about this old story of the cover-up of Joe Biden's mental decline? [Months later, why are you still fixated on this?]

The reason I talk about it, besides the fact that it is, I believe, the biggest media scandal in American history, is because my colleagues in the media continue to be part of the conspiracy of silence about this.

I don't really understand it. And that's not just like a rhetorical throwaway line. There was a conspiracy of silence. People who covered the White House, people who had C-SPAN subscriptions saw Joe Biden's mental decline. I told you that. I saw it in 2017 with my own eyes at a public event he did.

And I'm outraged at the cover-up of reporters who either allowed themselves to be intimidated by the Biden White House or did it willingly because they didn't want to help Donald Trump win.

And even now, after the fraudulent Jake Tapper book -- which didn't really expose anything, and pretended that this was all some big mystery revealed by the debate -- even now this conspiracy of silence continues...

[...] in 2024, the media, which ostensibly is here to be fair to everybody, participated in an obvious cover-up to try to keep Donald Trump from winning the White House back. And so a lot of Americans, a lot of people who come on this platform, say, well, how can we trust the mainstream media anymore about anything? How could we vote for Democrats when that loyalty to them in legacy journalism is so blatantly manifest now?

And these include people who don't like Donald Trump. They don't like him personally. They don't like how he conducts himself. Some of them don't even much care for his policies. But they cannot understand living in a country where the so-called free press just says, "Well, we don't like Donald Trump and Republicans, so we're going to support the other side." Even at the expense of all professional credibility.

[...] And what's got me all worked up, and I'll play it for you in a minute, is Jill Biden does an interview to promote her book with Rita Braver. And and the position she takes in the interview is that the night of the debate, she saw a behavior on the part of her husband that she had never seen before and has never seen since...

I don't understand how Rita Braver could sit there and just not say [...] "Do you not have C-SPAN? Do you not recall all the times your husband trailed off in public events? Do you not get called by any donors who said they're really concerned that your husband has, I like to say, lost a step or two?"

[...] JILL BIDEN: I wasn't horrified. I was frightened because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never. Or since. Yes. Or since. Never seen him like that. Never.

RITA BRAVER: What happened?

JILL BIDEN: I don't know what happened. I mean, when I watched it, I thought, "Oh my god, he's having a stroke." And it scared me to death.

HALPERIN: What happened, Rita? I can tell you what happened. Starting around 2017, Joe Biden began a long march towards cognitive decline that was on vivid public display on a regular basis. And the night of the debate, he unfortunately, for him, had a bad night. He had good nights and bad nights.

So Jim Kessler, start with you. If you were sitting there with Rita Braver doing the interview together, would you have said what Rita had said, or would you have said what I would have said?

Well, look, she's trying to elicit something [...] There's a lot of blame to go around, and I think Joe Biden deserves some of the blame for his being in, you know, the race and not dropping out. But I also don't expect spouses of politicians to be the place where you're going to find the truth on these sorts of things.

I hear you, but now I'm talking not about Jill. I'm talking about Rita. [....] I'm not singling Rita out, because pretty much every member of the Washington press corps is in the same boat [with this pretending, with this conspiracy of silence]...
