Am I Racist?

"Robin DiAngelo, the author of "White Fragility" who appears in the film, said the filmmakers "had lied about their agenda and I had been played", specifically in a scene involving reparations."

That was the best part. She looked so uncomfortable. I was cracking up. She was paid $15,000 for the interview but only gave the guy 30 bucks.

I've only seen the first 16 minutes of the film (so far). If it wasn't for the necessity of Walsh's [and extended crew's] charade, I'm not sure it would really count as a satirical doc. No "tone" need be added -- these individuals are real and in their unstaged habitat.

They seem reminiscent of those belonging to a religious or New Age cult in terms of litany, ritual, and mythos structure. Especially when it got to the group that was arranged in a circle and even had meditation at the start... That was it for me.

A condition perhaps similar to Philip K Dick's psychological adventure in the 1970s and early 80s. Where he believed the Roman Empire never ended.

But in this case, the era prior to the Civil War and life in the US after it up until the 1960s never ended. We're just living a demon's deception, a mass hallucination. Slavery is actually still ongoing, Jim Crow laws, etc. We're eternally surrounded by the environment of a Harriet Beecher Stowe novel.

"My God, Brett. The veil of illusion has dropped temporarily. Everywhere we look in the 2020s, there are people of color being dragged to the posts and whipped by GOP sadists!"

"Yes, Charlotte. We need to flee to Canada, but somehow our feet seem persistently unable to step off the soapbox."

Of course, it's actually progressophobia. Where it is essential that the Party continually upgrades what counts as white supremacy, that is saturating the entire society. So that fifty years from now the country will be still be wallowing in white supremacy. You can never acknowledge progress because to mitigate racism means putting the Party out of business -- or at least crippling it to where there is only rampant LGBT+phobia and misogyny to lean on for a bugle call.

Like many, one could just be amused by the preaching and morally pretentious antics of the Church of Woke: "We've sought redemption for the sins of our white privilege. We're on the road to rehabilitation. We are morally superior to you awful, nasty barbarians still residing in the hinterlands."

But you can't laugh IF you realize the grip that they have on the higher institutions of society. Unlike traditional zealots, these cultists have discovered the magic wand that turns the inside of skulls belonging to journalists and celebrities and academics and administrators to straw. A trick that has eluded the capabilities of fundamentalist Christians.

It doesn't matter how nonsensical and outrageous their mythos becomes or evolves over time, the mainstream will graciously accommodate it at both ends of its GI tract. In sharp contrast, again, to traditional zealotry.
