Dying in Another Country

My brother-in-law, a Canadian, died suddenly in a New England state today. He was travelling by automobile with my sister. Been a long day for my sis who had to make arrangements with a local funeral parlour to look after cremation and shipment of remains back to Canada. Meanwhile she has decided to drive back and is currently 4hrs from NY/Canada border. I mean this is happening fast but she feels it’s the best way to handle it without getting some of the family involved. Local Funeral home deals with funeral home in Canada and they do everything. We wait for her safe return.

Sorry to hear that, Zin. Would be bad enough in familiar surroundings, but what an ordeal for her to have that abruptly happen there and then cope with the funeral home arrangements in the confines of one day. Condolences to your sister, you, and the overall family.

I think she just didn’t want to bother family to come and get car. From what I hear the funeral home she’s using has experience in this matter and it freed her up to make a run home.

Weird day CC. My sis has a son who lives in Florida and is actually an American citizen (dual citizenship). He’s flying to Buffalo to hook up with my sister tomorrow and then cross into Canada. She lives about 20 mins from me but I’m in northern Ontario right now and couldn't fly into USA because I don’t have my passport with me. Regardless looks like I’ll be heading back to Niagara tomorrow.
