[Magical Realist]

I had forgotten how wonderful this film is after seeing it so many years ago. Yes, all the wonder and splendor of the cinematography, filmed with all natural lighting during the magic hour of twilight. But also a love for the little girl played by Linda Manz, who stars in and narrates the film, and is said to have improvised many of her amusing lines. A classic masterpiece that is discussed to this day in film schools.

Apparently I have a false memory of Leo Kottke's guitar work pervading the whole film. I guess it was only "Enderlin", played in background of the movie segment below. In contrast, I do remember the The Dance of Death being the only tune of John Fahey's in the soundtrack of Zabriskie Point.

The Tree of Life. Another Terrence Malick masterpiece. A visually poetic and deeply spiritual meditation that leaves one inspired and moved. And yes...there ARE dinosaurs in it! lol
