Feeling of wellbeing

Seems odd that a feeling of wellbeing keeps going up after age 40 until age 70.  Maybe it's relief from kids leaving the house.  There has been recent research supporting the notion of the depressing nature of childrearing.

I'm 56 and have a very strong sense of wellbeing, at least as it is defined as a sense being safe and well. Financially, physiologically, and mentally I seem on an even keel now, but I lack the social and self-esteem layers implied by the Maslow model. This hasn't blocked me from pursuing the self-actualization tier of development that has occupied me for most my life though. As if one can even achieve self-fulfillment without love and self-confidence. Perhaps some of us aren't constituted for those levels. One works with what one is given afterall.

It might be described as a steel light pole in my case.  The weather has been getting to it pretty much.  I'm getting into the mid fifties and things have been rather tough.
