"Humans eat a lot of meat — 360 million tons a year, to be exact. According to UN data, 900,000 cows are slaughtered globally every day. It's an inarguably high number, but it pales in comparison to the daily figure for pigs: 3.8 million.

On an average day, a staggering 202 million chickens are killed — the equivalent of 140,000 every minute. When it comes to fish, it's hard to pinpoint the exact number killed daily, but it falls in the hundreds of millions."--
