Who knows? Who cares? Trump is the one selling Bibles.

Yes, this is apparently ALL about Trump.

Doesn't really have much to do with selling Bibles after all.

The idea of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA" Bible had been kicked around for years, but publishers kept backing out of it.[1]

There's an article here announcing that it was actually available in September of 2022, the date of the article. No mention of Trump back then.

According to Liam Adams:

"The resurgent 'God Bless The USA' Bible featured in Trump’s recent ad is an altered version of the original concept, a modification that likely followed the publishing shake-up. Greenwood’s Bible is now printed in the King James Version, a different translation from the original pitch to HarperCollins. Perhaps the biggest mystery is the new publisher. That manufacturer is producing a limited quantity of copies, leading to a delayed four-to-six weeks for a copy to ship."

But according to publicist Jeremy Westby:

"Several years ago, the Bible was going to be printed with the NIV translation, but something happened with the then licensor and the then potential publisher. As a result, this "God Bless The USA Bible" has always been printed with the King James Version translation."

So this is perhaps the very same version sold in 2022, with Trump just added to the promoting of it.

[1] A petition emerged in 2021 calling Greenwood’s Bible “a toxic mix that will exacerbate the challenges to American evangelicalism” [i.e, Christian nationalism]. From there, a broader conversation ensued about the standards by which publishers print Bibles.

If having Trump's name attached turns (say) a $20 bible into a $60 bible .. might not the same thing apply to property, businesses and suchlike?

Is this really a Trump Bible? Does it really contain any Trump content? Or is it simply an American patriotic/inspirational Bible with the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence printed as well as the Bible text?

It seems to have existed well before Trump promoted it on his Truth Social website.

While I'm a huge fan of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, I'm not a Christian - so the Bible aspect doesn't appeal to me.

But I have no problem with Trump promoting it for his friend, ahead of Easter. What possible harm is there in that?

$60 doesn't seem excessive. Has anyone priced university textbooks recently? You will have trouble finding any book published by a university press these days selling for less than $100 new. And some university presses publish nothing except race/gender left-political bullshit these days, making the books they publish unreadable. But they have a right to do it and apparently there's a market out there for that kind of merde.

So I have no objection to this at all. I can easily see how it could "trigger" people already suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome though. That hysteria is kind of entertaining to watch.

If the claims are true about significant shipment delays, due to only limited copies being printed, then it's hard to see how Trump could even make a killing off this with the pocket change from promotion.

But OTOH, if the demand for them suddenly changes because of Trump's endorsement, then whoever this shy publisher is might either go into overdrive or a bigger publisher forget about its prior reservations and seize the contract.

Whining about Trump selling Bibles doesn't make him a victim.
The outrage just proves it's all about the love of hating Trump.
Has nothing to do with the Bible, as most the critics aren't Christian.

Seems like my (English) humour missed the mark. Personally I think it would be dishonest of anyone (particularly a judge) to pretend the Trump Touch doesn't add value to a thing. Trump naturally includes the Trump Touch in his valuations (see 'property developer') and Trump haters [word?] deny the existence of the Trump Touch. In a Trump loving environment he has done nothing wrong - actually he can do no wrong - in a Trump hating environment he can do no right. When the outcome of a trial is solely determined by whether or not the judge likes you .. you have a problem.
