On some website, Guinness World Records later claims that this Russian guy built the first real retractable light saber: https://youtu.be/RSSAhmmiZjM
Whereas the GWR claim with the Canadian company Hacksmith is that it built the first retractable proto-lightsaber. Not sure what the distinction is, but the OP looks closer to the one in Star Wars, as far as non-rippling straightness. EDIT. From the comments section: "Let's take something into consideration. While the Hacksmith made a working saber too, it's considered a proto saber (in "Star Wars" cannon). Hacksmith's is connected to a backpack, that has a large propane tank on the back giving it more power and time to run. So, the fact this guy [in Russia] made one fully handheld, not connected to anything, is awesome. " Canadian .... https://youtu.be/AymYhmayWz4
