Don't Forget Syria

Reports that Iranian Revolutionary Guards supported by local Shi'ite militia groups used rockets and drones to attack US outposts in eastern Syria last night. Initial reports say that six American soldiers were wounded and a civilian contract employee was killed.

Word is coming in that US aircraft are continuing to conduct air strikes as I write this. Jet fighters, helicopters, air refueling tankers and intelligence gathering aircraft are in the air, maybe drones as well, so it isn't a small American response. US facilities in neighboring Iraq are on heightened alert.

So there's quite a little battle taking place in eastern Syria right now, and the American military are in the thick of it.

It now appears that there were two attacks on US facilities in Iraq last night, conducted by Iranian Revolutionary Guards and their allies. There may be more casualties than have been announced.

US airstrikes against Iranian associated targets in Syria continue. Americans in Iraq are on alert. US aircraft are operating from the Persian Gulf area with tanker support.

Unconfirmed rumors that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in watern Iran has been placed on alert.

Reports that at least two additional US positions have been attacked by the IRGC. One was hit by 3 drones, the other by 5 MLRS rockets. One US serviceman was injured, is in "stable condition" and is being airlifted to the big US military hospital in Germany.

Right now, things are said to be quiet, but there's anxiety in the Syrian city of Deir Ez Zor, where the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are believed to have a presence. Airstrikes on the city are widely expected.
