How much do Youtube pay [a musician]?

Before watching.... If the value is $0.0001 per view, then the grand total would be $12 The actual way people make money (or originally made money) on Youtube isn't the view itself, it's the number of adverts that are applied to that view too. As those adverts are then charged an amount for being viewed (The longer, more visual and aggressive an advert the higher the price) At which point the value of how much can be earned would likely go up.

However there is then the problem about who the advertisers are and what market they are trying to reach vs. the medium creating the reach. So a little known singer might not be seen as a spokesperson for a particular clothing line or perfume company, they might instead just end up with adverts for buying gold or bitcoin nonsense instead. When the right crowd, the right influencer is paired with the right brands then money can be made, however that takes a lot more work than just setting up Youtube to do it for you.

Live stream performances and talks by YouTube musicians also garner donations from the chat audience. Corey Heuvel, for instance, has one almost every Friday, in contrast to Mary's apparently being weeks apart.

And some receive contractual support from instrument and equipment manufacturers if they play or showcase the latter's merchandise. Gabriella Quevedo received funding from Taylor Guitars. G7th capos, etc for using them in her videos.

Sorry I didn't give a summary at the time. .. faded a bit now but..
One point is that any income from copyright music gets snapped up by the copyright holder - usually a label.
For own or out of copyright I think $5,000 /million views was mentioned. The main advantage of high viewing count (music) is that advertisers and sponsors will bid against each other to get on your channel.

takes skill, dedication, x factor & time to build up a million+ followers
all the hard work you can muster over 6 months doesn't mean anything unless you have the elusive x-factor which attracts people
