INTRO: Home Secretary Suella Braverman has hit out at what she termed the "Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati" after environmental protests blocked part of the M25 for more than a day. Ms Braverman criticised MPs who voted against measures that would allow police to deal with activists like Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion more quickly.
Speaking in the House of Commons on Tuesday, she said: "I'm afraid it's the Labour Party, it's the Lib Dems, it's the coalition of chaos, it's the Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati – dare I say, the anti-growth coalition – that we have to thank for the disruption we are seeing on our roads today."
Her comments came on the same day that two Just Stop Oil protesters who were hanging from the Dartford Crossing on the M25 for more than 36 hours were arrested... (MORE - details)

INTRO: China's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday its diplomatic missions abroad have the right to “take necessary measures” to maintain security after British police opened an investigation into the assault of a Hong Kong protester who alleged he was dragged into the Chinese Consulate in Manchester and beaten up during a demonstration.
Britain's foreign secretary summoned China's second-most senior diplomat in the U.K. on Tuesday to express the U.K.'s “deep concern” about the assault allegations and to demand an explanation for the actions of the Chinese consulate staff.
Police in the English city of Manchester said a peaceful protest outside the Chinese Consulate on Sunday turned into a “hostile” situation when unidentified men came out of the building, dragged one protester into the consulate grounds and assaulted him. Police said officers had to intervene and remove the man.
The man, who is in his 30s, told reporters that he was beaten up when protesters tried to stop the masked men from tearing down their anti-government placards outside the gates of the consulate. The protesters had gathered at the consulate as the Chinese Communist Party opened its weeklong congress in Beijing on Sunday... (MORE - details)

EXCERPTS: Ben Wallace flew to Washington for an urgent meeting with his US counterpart on Tuesday to discuss Russia’s use of drones to attack Kyiv. The meeting came ahead of a delivery of new Nato systems to shore up Ukraine’s air defences, after two attacks on the Ukrainian capital in a week, killing at least three people.
Ukraine has called for the West to provide it with better defences to stop it being “terrorised” by strikes on civilians using kamikaze drones and missiles. Iran will send more drones and surface-to-surface missiles to Russia, sources in Tehran told Reuters on Tuesday, adding to the urgency of calls for more weapons.
[...] Jens Stoltenberg, the Nato Secretary General, said on Tuesday that deliveries of the new air defence systems would begin in the coming days to counter the threat of drones, including the Shahed-136 type supplied by Iran.
Since the summit, Ukraine has said Russian drone attacks have destroyed almost a third of its power stations, which came in response to a string of setbacks for the Kremlin on the front line in Crimea.
[...] It comes as Major General James Martin, the Commander of Britain’s Warfighting Division, warned that the proliferation of drones means the West no longer controls the skies in combat... (MORE - missing details)
