Quote:"We implemented some new security measures to prevent this from happening in the future."

Psst. My browser still blocks it initially as an insecure site. As expected, just a return of the same old outdated and vulnerable situation that will have hiccups again in the future.

At any rate, you just have to jiggle the disparaging comments the right way over the course of days to finally provoke the voodoo gods into action, with respect to a return of the target of disdain.

Quote:Dear SciForum
  SciForum is singular at beginning

Quote:SciForums Staff
Not at the end.

Quote:users
users? Why not members?

Quote:The server infrastructure has been exposed to a DDoS attack early last week
has been? Why not 'was'?
Exposed? Does that mean it was not attacked?
has been ....early last week?  Was it some other time during this?

Quote:and after the hosting company reacted and isolated affected IP's, while doing some routine inspection, they detected some difficulties with public server equipment that had been replaced ASAP.
I take it that the hosting company's reaction was to isolate some affected IP's and then they did a routine inspection of something. This routine inspection detected some difficulties in some equipment that had been replaced rather quickly so they say. Why would they inspect replaced equipment if they had already decided it wasn't any good?

Quote:However, we also got informed that some server components got replaced afterward, so it required more time to resolve the issue and the downtime lasted longer than usual.
got used twice same sentence? Maybe were is more appropriate? Replaced afterward...tautology. More time to solve an issue will undoubtedly add to what was originally required ....another tautology.

Quote:Now all services are up and running again!
The exclamation point makes it seem like a surprise

Quote:We implemented some new security measures to prevent this from happening in the future.
Implemented some new measures.... some old ones are still good? Shutting down is one measure that will prevent this.... be nice to know what this is.... happening in the future...another tautology. Whole sentence sounds very vague and evasive with no real information or explanations.

Quote:Thank you for understanding
Understanding what? Gibberish?

I'd be real careful signing in at SciForum(s) today. Unless they always sound like that.

It is oddly worded. It may just be a message from the hosting service though.

Sounds vaguely familiar, like something also posted years ago, with maybe an automated program dispensing it again. Or a tech just got it from a chapter of the Exigency Response Handbook, concerning standard bafflegab notices for _X_ downtime crisis.

Yep - it's all 'back to normal' at SF. The premier agent provocateur resumes the usual 'constructive criticism' strategy at the long running thread:

A case of 'why turn over a new leaf, when the status quo works so well'. And to think some there extol such flaming/troll tactics as exemplary Sigh.

Disclaimer: above commentary is solely the poster's personal opinion, and should in no way be construed as representative of the broader SV position on such matters pertaining to another site!!!!!!

Down again. Let's see how long this unscheduled SF holiday lasts.

Just a long recess this time - back up and running as if nothing happened. But then nothing much worth noting is the SF norm anyway.
