What if Everything Ran on Gas?

Quote:When somebody tells me that electric is just not right for a car I ask them if they would be willing to buy a new gas powered iPhone. It’s heavy, it’s noisy, and it smells like gas, and has to be filled up every 8 hours. Why choose a battery operated phone then?

Like the iPhone, EVs are designed for planned obsolescence. The lifespan and cost of replacing EV batteries means they have zero long term resale value. And with their batteries, EVs often weigh more than gas powered cars in their class. iPhones and EVs also have to be charged regularly, taking much more time than a gas refill.

Ideologues never think through their own arguments. The commercial, if taken seriously, glosses over the fact that electricity is much more suited to transmitting to stationary locations by wires.

This glosses over the fact that a rising demand/cost for electricity, due to more EVs, is not just raising the cost of operating an EV. It's also raising the cost of ALL of your power consumption needs...often still generated from worse polluters than gasoline.
