I recollect part of some documentary that mentioned how the pages of the manuscript got jumbled up, and Kerouac told Burroughs to just leave it in that scrambled order (after reading it that way). Contributing to the non-linear time sequence of the novel.

According to one of many legends, Ginsberg misread "naked lust" somewhere in a copy as "naked lunch", thus a title was born. With a relevant meaning for the metaphor devised afterwards.
