Never even heard of him until CC posted.
Possibly  the best set I have ever heard-
Edit- turns out he is the same age as me - the cultural timeline is the same. Not sure how it will work for the young folks.

I first encountered mention of Tommy Emmanuel in a guitar magazine (the old paper kind). The writer referred to him as the greatest guitarist of Europe, apparently unable to discern the Australian accent.

Then, years ago (but still in this century), I finally saw him on a PBS special, wowing audiences during its fundraising drives. I remembered that article and recognized the name. ("So this is that guy. This is him!") He might still be PBS's big donation generator.

Back in the '80s and '90s, PBS was noted for airing recorded performances of Michael Hedges (who in that era was the unofficial recipient of the "Guitarist From Another Planet" title).

Here's a later Tommy Emmanuel PBS special from 2015, with an intro of other guitarists talking about him, including Les Paul. (But it may be blocked for UK visitors; and ironically in Oz, too): https://www.pbs.org/video/music-gone-pub...-emmanuel/

Speaking of Michael Hedges... some of his compositions were the first that Sungha Jung (below) learned when he was circa 8 years old, or whatever.

Jung did something far more recent than the one below, just a couple of days ago. But it was K-pop or contemporary Z-gen stuff that I know zilch about. At least this '69 tune from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is old enough for anyone to be familiar with.

Listened to the OP vids and I must say, despite having a tin ear for music, never have I heard guitars sound so good, each note seemed to be perfect. Those guitar strings were tuned by people with an exceptional ear for music. IMO

The guitarist who founded Windham Hill Records, and consequently signed/contracted Michael Hedges and many other musicians to be influentially unleashed upon the world.

William Ackerman: "The Impending Death of the Virgin Spirit"

(1986) William Ackerman: "Processional" (march composed for a wedding)

This is a duo performance that accordingly colors outside the solo theme of the thread. But passing up these two playing together just wouldn't seem right.

A solo act with vocals very much qualifies, too, as long the guitar work is great (more than just strumming or picking chords).

Finally, CH made an individual video of this. Before, you'd only encounter it in his Friday livestreams.

Corey Heuvel: cover of "Over the Hills and Far Away" (Led Zeppelin)
