Astroworld tragedy blamed on satanism

"In the days after eight people were killed and scores injured as a crowd surged toward the stage at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival Friday night, conspiracy theorists have taken to social media to falsely claim that the tragedy was the result of a satanic ritual.
Several videos on TikTok claim that the stage, which looked like an upside down cross, opened a “portal to hell.”

Crackpots have also claimed Scott was performing a “blood sacrifice,” pointing to the “demonic” aesthetic of the festival, including a flaming sculpture of a skull adorned with Scott’s trademark dreadlocks at the entrance, and videos that seemingly show Scott performing his trademark autotune humming as casualties were moved out of the crowd.

Many of the TikTok videos include the hashtag #SaveTheChildren, a QAnon conspiracy theory that falsely alleges celebrities and politicians are running a child sex trafficking ring that harvests children’s blood in satanic rituals.

Dozens of videos have been posted on TikTok about the Astroworld tragedy using the hashtag #SatanicRitual, which has 11 million views, and when “Astroworld” is searched on the platform, “astroworld conspir[a]cy” and “astroworld demonic” are the second and third terms promoted by the app.

A representative from TikTok told Forbes that the videos are in the process of being removed because they violate community guidelines by spreading misinformation and conspiratorial content.

BIG NUMBER
2.7 million. That’s the number of views of one video posted yesterday that is promoting the outlandish conspiracy theory.

In the wake of the disaster, lawsuits are piling up against Scott, who has a history of inciting crowds to get rowdy at his shows. The Houston Police Department is investigating what caused the crowd to push forward, and an independent review has been called for to determine how the police and fire departments could have been better prepared for the event, the Associated Press reports."

He seems to have that past of encouraging the crowd to draw forward. But probably isn't the only performer to implore such at some "let's get together for a raucous group-hug" moment of a concert.

At any rate, he's not into religious parody, which is what contemporary Satanism usually is, with a good dash of Knights Templar. (I mean, he might be a spoof of something, but not that.)

A lot of conspiracies are just inventive people who want to have a viral impact on the world, even if it has negative consequences. They don't care if they receive non-anonymous credit or blame, just as long as they or their inner circle know who is responsible. "Hey, I caused that. I created a disturbance at large, the universe noticed me, my ripple."

Publicly behaving like strange idiots is also a much more mitigated and localized way of doing it.

If a ferry can safely transit to the maximum of twenty, would you let forty onboard? (Those getting rich and not on that ferry would, there perspective is the "fear" of the potential negative consequences is weighed less than how much money they can make if nothing bad happens. i.e. Gross Negligence)

The type of event (in this case music) can also greatly influence the potential outcome. When various singers and bands play in Arena's or Music halls, the public for the most part is seated and is able to have there own personal space.

Various types of "pop" however seem to be more about slumming it by being packed together (usually down to the commercial representation of human traffic being cattle, and herds make money.) This is especially true when a band has reached "Sell out" status. (When they no longer own their own works, when they are told when and where they are playing rather than actually playing for themselves or even their fans etc)

In the case of the unfortunate fallen, it's suggested they were children.

For the most part children and reliant upon their parents to keep them safe, society in some respects implies it's what a parent should do and in the case of a child going to a concert it can cause great deliberation for parents. Are they willing to let them go alone?, is someone going with them?, if they are stopped from going how will it effect their relationship or psychology? etc

I mention this because part of keeping a family (and subsiquently children) safe is marking out what is seen as personal (family) space, a safe area in which if someone outside the family encrouches, they are subsiquently informed that their proximity could be seen a threat. When children aren't accompanied by those trying to keep that safe environment around them, then they could well be subjected to being ignored or not seen. (Such as being crushed etc)

Saying all this though can be unfair on those that had no idea such things could lead to events like this playing out, that's not what my remarks are actually being made for. What I am actually implying is that the event locations should attempt to cater for creating those safe environments so such avoidable accidents don't happen. That way the children and whomever is suppose to be chaperoning them can enjoy themselves without having to worry about the fears of underlining dangers.
