At least Jim Bridenstine got to have it happen on his watch, in the nick of time. (Along with that earlier mission of "we made re-history but are just floating around doing nothing officially useful in the space station".)

B1061.1 arrived (barely) back in Port Canaveral today after launching Crew-1 to the Space Station. The rocket appears to have slid from the center of JRTI to where it's tilted precariously over the edge. Octagrabber is grabbed onto it and appears to have saved it from being lost into the sea. (Give that robot a raise!) Unclear what happened, maybe rough seas after recovery.

Crew-1 is slated to return this coming Wednesday April-28-2021 with its four Crew-1 astronauts, Victor, Mike, Shannon and Soichi aboard.

Hatch closure on the ISS is scheduled for 4:45 AM EDT. Undocking at 7:05 AM EDT. Splashdown in the Atlantic at 12:40 PM EDT.

On hand will be SpaceX's Go Searcher recovery ship, currently at Port Canaveral preparing. It's sister recovery ship is currently in Tampa in preparation for a contingency Gulf of Mexico landing. That could happen if weather doesn't cooperate or something. Bob and Doug had to use a Gulf LZ off Pensacola.

All of it will be livestreamed here

Complicating matters is the fact that OCISLY is presently returning to Port Canaveral with B1061.2, the Crew-2 booster. What's more, a Starlink launch also scheduled for Wednesday 4-28. JRTI will be booster-catcher and Go Quest and Shelia Bordelon will assist with that one.

So SpaceX's little navy is going to be very busy next week.

Crew-1 return was delayed by weather in the Atlantic and is now scheduled to land them in the Gulf of Mexico off Panama City Florida.

Currently preparing to return. Conducting a short burn to get rid of excess fuel. The next big event will be deconnecting the capsule's trunk. Then de-orbit burn coming up. Splashdown should be at 11:56 PM Pacific/2:56 AM Eastern.
