I beg your pardon

Hi, Photizo here. Greetings everyone; I hope you are keeping safe and healthy during this crazy time. I have a question...I would like to know if it is possible to be received back into the fold over at Sciforums. I was banned five years ago but was never informed (at least I don't remember if I was) whether the ban was permanent. My avatar is still there without any ban label. Can anyone provide me with any clarification or hope for an end to the ban? Thanks in advance.

Even notorious ex-members in the past were occasionally allowed to return after they repented and pleaded their case to James R. But the two pardons I'm vaguely recalling ended in failure, so it's anyone's guess how charitable he is nowadays after that.

According to Daecon (link below) you were permabanned. But there were software problems that not only didn't indicate that beneath some exiled members' avatars, but allowed them to continue posting. Secular Sanity (Trooper) might know something more (certainly a better chance than me). And possibly Stryder (but that was probably after he departed mod status there).

It's possible that you got too preachy and got banned however that's just pure speculation on my part.

Hi, Stryder,

Despite my pushing the envelope, I was allowed quite a bit of freedom over there. I genuinely liked many people including the moderators. It was a particular thread I started which dealt with a controversial issue at the time which got me banned if I remember. However, I do not remember being told my ban was permanent. Having tried on a couple occasions to reset my password, there was a notice that came up indicating I was in fact permanently banned. Given my amicable relationship with most people over there I've simply wondered if it is possible for someone here to intercede on my behalf i.e. to be given a probationary period to demonstrate 'repentance' if you will. Any thoughts?

In that case the simplest approach would be to contact James R by creating another account to explain the predicament or by using the sciforums contact form (http://sciforums.com/misc/contact) I'm not sure who exactly will handle the request there but I assume it won't be ignored. In any event if you've been banned for a while and don't intend to make more trouble it's quite possible they will allow you back.
